Three attempts to buy different properties over a period of months were unsuccessful. It appears that when property owners learned that we are a Traveller organisation, they gave instructions to their auctioneers to stop the sale. This is one of the matters covered in the Group’s annual report which is to be launched tonight at the Institute of Choreography and Dance in the Firkin Crane Centre. If the funds have to be returned it will be a huge setback for the Group, which has spent the last 9 years building a range of programmes in youth work, education, outreach, health, women’s development, Traveller accommodation and employment training, in consultation with several government departments and state agencies. The Annual Report is being launched at 7.00pm tonight by Niall Crowley, Chief Executive Officer of the Equality Authority.
