Accommodation Work
Every part of a person's life is affected by one's standard of accommodation. It is central to Travellers' health, education, training, employment, and relationship with the settled community.
TVG accommodation work includes outreach contact with Traveller families who live in standard accommodation, group housing schemes, official halting sites and on the roadside. This contact gives us valuable information to use when representing Travellers' interests when arguing for improved accommodation and housing welfare services. Much of our work is about our relationship with the two local authorities, Cork Corporation and Cork County Council.

The accommodation needs of nomadic Travellers went completely unmet in the 5 years 2000 to 2004. This failure by Cork City Council prompted TVG to focus almost entirely on this issue in our County Council 2004 accommodation submission, and in the 2004 accommodation submission to Cork City Council.
