Wavoka And The Ghost Dance

We do not print this or any comments to condem any faith. So if that is how it is percieved then one is not looking through the entire windows and seeing only that which they wish to see.I merley present the facts.Links and comments for you to ask upon reading what you are about to read.Afterwards.. it is up to you,the reader to decide which is right and which is wrong.or what matters.Whats truth and what isn't.The choice is yours.

At the time of the Ghost dance.....The U.S.military,bounty hunters ,cowboys and looters had already killed all the buffalo, the Elk,alot of deer.Food was scarce. They were forced off their land and put in concentration camps(oops reservations, ahem),given blankets with small pox, turned into slvaes, tortured and rejected and now they'r one hope and comfort was being taken from the people. The Ghost Dance. The White man was afraid. Why didn't they allow them this religion yet Mormons could be mormons,Chiristians could be Christians,Catholics could be Catholic and so on and so on yet American Indians could not dance? What would have happened if the black race was told they could not make the blues?Come on... get the point?   And yes.. i know we can not change history. But we can change ourselves! and either percieve life is suppose to be one of bloodshed or not. That simple. One of Love(to ALL) or not.Read what Jesus said were the greatest commandments on earth. One was to Love your nieghbor as yourself and love god with all your heart mind and soul. Was not the American indains doing that? Were they not honoring in thankfulness all of creation and tilling the land and loving? They did not turn "savage" as they say until the white man began to kill and steal and control.

Wovaka came as a comfort to many many people.Spread like a wildffire through out the Nation to all tribes. But sadly, like so many American Natives...   In the end..Wavoka died a lonley man away from both white people and his own blood kind.He had lived a life of rejection just as his father had.And in the end was a side show act only to be gawked at by the ignorant.

Who were the natives killing before the missionaries came here?Who?And who were and yet are the real savages?

YOU DECIDE

Ghost Dance/Wovoka Links:

The Massacre at Wounded Knee brought a quick end to these beliefs and an end to the Ghost Dance as a religion. From 1891-1893, James Mooney from the Smithsonian in Washington documented and photographed the Ghost Dance. For more, click here http://php.indiana.edu/~tkavanag/visual5.html
but be aware that Mooney, while a talented photographer, he was less careful in his documentation of the Ghost Dance, perhaps inadvertently confusing parts of this dance with others such as the Crow Dance.

Crow Dog was one of the leaders in popularizing WOVOKA's Ghost Dance
among the Lakota. Crow Dog adopted the religion from SHORT BULL. ...
