How to Join Troop 73 in Alameda Parents of any new boy: - Parents attend our monthly Parent Committee meetings and all parents are asked to help the Troop continue to be successfull. For your convienence, the Parent Committee meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, at the same location, and during the regular Troop meeting your boy is attending.
- If you were a current member of your previous Pack Parent Committee, fill out the standard Troop Volunteer Form, and the Troop will pay the $1.00 transfer fee (or the "Multiple Unit" fee, should you wish to remain on the Pack Committee as well).
- The Troop 73 Parent Committee makes decisions on how the Troop functions and approves what the boys plan for themselves. While the Parent Committee takes into account the wishes of all parents, any decision under serious contention will be decided by Officially Registered Troop 73 Parent Committee Members (it is highly recommended that all Troop 73 parents join it).
- Please view the Camping Checklist for items your son will need on upcoming outings, and our Troop 73 Monthly Outings Schedule. We do have some equipment to loan until you can get what he needs.
Transfering from Webelos: -
At, or by the time of, the Pack Blue and Gold Dinner, parents fill out the standard Boy Scout Application form (the Troop will pay the $1.00 transfer fee), and Troop 73 publicly awards our cornucopia of items (Boy Scout Handbook, Troop neckerchief and slide, red epaulets, and the Troop "7" and "3" numbers) to Webelos joining our Troop. - Often a Webelos Scout mistakenly believes he must wait to join his chosen Boy Scout Troop at the official crossing over ceremony at their Pack Blue and Gold Dinner. However, if the Webelo has earned his Arrow of Light award, and there are no Den or Pack scheduling conflicts, a boy graduating into Troop 73 in Alameda may begin attending our regular Troop meetings anytime after the first of the year, and parents attend the Parent Committee meetings.
- The boy can begin earning the Scout Rank requirements right away, even if he doesn't have his Boy Scout Handbook yet (you and your son would still attend his Pack Blue and Gold Dinner and cross over ceremony when it comes around).

Brand New to Scouting: - In Alameda, a boy that is brand new to Boy Scouts may join Troop 73 in Alameda if he has graduated the fifth grade, or will become 11 years old within 6 months of joining. His parents fill out and sign the standard Boy Scout Application Form, pay $10.00 registration fee (if the boy remains active, the Troop will then pay the yearly renewal registration), and attend Parent Committee meetings.
- Troop 73 will award our cornucopia of items (Boy Scout Handbook, Troop neckerchief and slide, red epaulets, and the Troop "7" and "3" numbers) at a Troop meeting or upcoming Court of Honor awards ceremony, and the brand new Scout may begin earning requirements for the Scout Rank right away (even if he doesn't have the Boy Scout Handbook yet).
