Ufo`s in the News

UFO SIGHTINGS RISE APPEAL

UFO sightings in and around Wolverhampton are rising and people`s video footage of strange lights will be used to aid research across the world. A home recording of silver lights flashing in a clear blue sky was sent to Japan. The recording made at Lichfield in August of last year, are similar to those caught over Mexico. The footage shows six silver discs hovering over a field in Perton, near Wolverhampton.

Graham Allen, Staffordshire UFO Group chairman, said: " Wolverhampton has had its fair share of sightings but what we are seeing covers the entire county. There have been many multi-witness sightings which gives us a great deal to go on. There are anomalies which do not lend itself to the explanation that these objects were birds or balloons."

One recording showing orange balls of light hovering featured in Cannock Chase UFO Hotspot UK and won the Staffordshire UFO Group an Extra-Terrestrial Biological Entity Award (EBE) at March`s World UFO Conference.

Mr Allen wants anyone who sees anything in the sky they cannot explain to call him on 01889 585149

DID A UFO FLY OVER DORDON ?

Paulette Horobin, from Dordon reported the following story to the Tamworh Herald News on 07 April 2005:

Am I losing it again?

I was sitting, minding my own business, watching TV after scrubbing the oven, when a large orange light shone into my lounge. It certainly made me jump - it was only a few yards or so above my garden.
I couldn't hear a plane or helicopter, so it wasn't one of those type of people or crafts. Then it quickly shot forward 100 yards, then got brighter before shooting off.
I stood by the patio door for a while longer after grabbing the camcorder in case this thing came back, but of course, it didn't.

So what was it I saw?

Was it a UFO that everyone talks about, or did I just inhale too much oven cleaner, as my husband thinks I did? (Ha ha).So, did anyone else see this big, bright light over Dordon?
It was Wednesday, March 23.
Also, on a separate point, did anyone else see the amazing sight of the spitfire that flew over very low, March 6, about lunchtime?

It was an amazing sight and extremely loud.

23/07/03 - BBC Cameraman sparks new speculation on the "Himley Triangle".

A BBC cameraman spotted three bright lights in the sky over the Malverns near the village of Hanbury on Tuesday and filmed them with a video camera. Some thought it could have been flares. But cameraman Tom Hines, who works on the BBC drama series Doctors, said he is convinced it was a UFO. " BBC Online 22nd July 2003.

UFORM contacted the BBC to request further details. Members of UFORM will be aware of the ongoing investigation into the sightings in the Himley Triangle following the second sighting of a star-like object with a tail in the vicintiy of the Dudley earthquake. The BBC News footage taken by Tom Hines on 22nd July occurred right in the middle of the period we had predicted and although possibly a coincidence, needs further investigation. UFORM have seen an unprecendented increase in the number of sightings in the period 10th - 23rd July and are continuing our investigations. Can we appeal to all members to be particularly vigilant this week as we have received a couple of interesting videos and at least eight different sightings this week alone.

PROBE OVER UFO REPORT

Redditch police are investigating reports that a saucer shaped UFO " about the size of a big saloon car " was seen flying over the town. Officers received a report that the object was seen silently moving south over the town at a height of between 1,000 and 2,000 feet at 8pm on Friday. The caller said it was bright " like a bonfire " and flew on a horizontal path.

TRIANGLE UFO AT COMMON

Strange objects have been seen in the skies above Hartlebury Common, the beauty spot near Stourport. And a UFO research group in the West Midlands is to arrange a skywatch. A spoke man for the UFO group said, "a large black triangular shaped object was spotted hovering over the common. There was a flash of light, then it disappeared at incredible speed."

Sightings are discussed at meetings of the group at the Mitre Inn, Lower High Street, Stourbridge, on the first Monday every month.

 METEOR ATTACKS!

Blazing bright blue objects in the sky sparked Britain's biggest mass UFO sighting in years on the 11th June 1998. The objects were sighted by hundreds of people from Dorset to the Midlands, with police forces and coast guards up and down the country being bombarded with phone calls from concerned citizens convinced that the aliens had landed. The bright blue UFO's, described as one big light and several smaller ones were sighted from about 11pm on Thursday night, and remained in the sky for several hours, seeming to travel in a north-easterly direction. While some believed the lights to be caused by a burning plane coming into land, the majority of witnesses feared that they were actually seeing flying saucers, with eight worried police forces launching probes to investigate the matter further. The most rational explanation would seem to be that the blue lights were actually the result of a freak meteor shower, with the MoD releasing an official statement to the effect: "When (debris from outer space) passes from a zero-gravity of the upper atmosphere, it burns up because of the friction."

However, all this did not prevent the UK`s newspapers, television and radio stations from covering the story.

FLAMING SKY

A giant fireball, which flashed across the sky, is being investigated by astronomers. They say the flaming object, travelling at about 25,000 miles an hour, was spotted over Hartlepool before breaking up near Darlington.

MYSTERY OF UFO`S

Police are investigating a sighting of five mysterious flying saucers above a Midlands village. The discs were spotted hovering over Water Orton, near Coleshill, at 7:55am.

Warwickshire police checked with Birmingham Airport Traffic Control staff who said there were no scheduled flights at that time.

Inspector David Fry said:" The objects were described as disc like, silvery, moving very slowly from south to the north of the sky above Water Orton. Two of them disappeared completely."

NIGHT SKY LIGHTS BRING UFO FEAR FOR MUM-TO-BE.

A mother-to-be said she almost went into labour when she saw mysterious flashing lights in the sky over Tipton, twice in the same night. Toni Jordan, aged 17 said she was at her stepfather's home in Hill Street at 7:40pm when she saw a multi-coloured glow in the sky.

She ran outside with her mother to get a closer look and the pair watched amazed as the flying objects staged mid air aerobatics before it flew away. And she says she was still in shock when she glimpsed the coin shaped object again flying low as she was driven home through Dudley Port. Toni, five months pregnant at the time, said" I was that scared I almost went into labour. It was a 50 pence shape thing with red, blue and yellow flashing lights. It was hovering over the houses for a short while then it just seemed to take off."

She said she saw the same object as her mother drove her home half an hour later.

A police spokesman said there had been no reports of extra-terrestrial activity over Tipton that night.

UFO`S `NO THREAT` IN 1950`S

The Ministry of Defence set up a secret " flying saucer working party " in the 1950`s to investigate reports of UFO's, according to official papers made public for the first time.

The joint group, involving experts from the Directorate of Scientific Intelligence and the Joint Technical Intelligence Committee, was established in 1951 after a spate of sightings in Sweden and the US led to a " notable outbreak " of reports in Britain.

However, the Scientists gave short shrift to the idea that the earth was facing an alien invasion from space, dismissing the claims as "optical illusions and psychological delusions "- or just plain hoaxes.

They added that no progress could be made with further investigation and that " positive results could only be obtained by organising throughout the country, or the world, continuous observation of the skies by a co-ordinated network of visual observers."

They concluded that research was a " singularly profitless enterprise. "

PLANE IN NEAR MISS WITH UFO

A passenger jet taking off from Heathrow Airport had a close encounter with a UFO, a near miss report has revealed.

The pilots of an Oslo bound McDonnell Douglas MD81 plane saw a metallic grey object pass by 30 to 50 metres away as they flew in out of cloud at 3,000 feet.

And, despite extensive inquiries, no explanation for the object could be found, according to the Civil Aviation Authority report.

The captain reported the object as being the size of a small aircraft while his co-pilot described it as a " bright light, very close ".

The incident happened at mid-day on June 12th 1998
