SATAN--KING OF EMPIRES! By David Brandt Berg, 9 August 1980 THERE'S AN AMAZING DESCRIPTION OF SATAN IN THE 28TH CHAPTER OF EZEKIEL WHERE HE'S CALLED THE PRINCE OF TYRUS. Tyre itself was the ancient capital of Tyre and Sidon, or Phoenicia, today Lebanon. I was just checking on the story of John Todd where he says it's a perfect description of Satan, and it certainly sounds like it, the "anointed cherub," etc.

THERE THEY LATER BUILT A COMPLETELY NEW CITY OF TYRE, WHICH IS THE MODERN CITY OF TYRE TODAY, the one that's still in existence. (Question: There's never been one built on the original site?) No, it was never rebuilt. The Lord said "thou shalt be built no more" and so on. (Ez.26:14,21.)
SO APPARENTLY THE DEVIL AT ONE TIME HAD BECOME THE ACTUAL KING OF TYRE, because it was considered the richest most extravagant city in the World. He apparently made it his World capital, sort of like the Antichrist is going to do some day. Because this description in the 28th chapter of Ezekiel mentioned by John Todd as a picture of the Devil, goes far beyond what any normal human King of Tyre could have been. IT SPEAKS OF HIM HAVING BEEN IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN, THE ANOINTED CHERUB, NEXT TO GOD HIMSELF, and all this sort of thing. So the Devil must have once ruled Tyre in its glory when it flourished, just like he's going to rule Jerusalem some day. He's probably ruled quite a few cities like that, who knows? He could be ruling New York right now, and some of those places.

In both stories, giants are the result of miscegenation between gods and mortals - or more precisely, between gods and mortal women. Could such startling similarities be pure coincidence, or do the stories of Eden and Atlantis have a shared origin? Tyre was not in existence during the Garden of Eden. We know, though, of one stealthy creature that was there: the serpent. He deceived Eve. Adam assented with the evil one's plan to do contrary to what God the Maker had said. Let's note what Ezekiel 28:12-17 says about this evil one.

Accordingly, perhaps one of the most extraordinary theological concepts in the Bible is the proposition that God created and destroyed an ancient civilization on earth eons before the time of Adam and Eve. Although the Bible says nothing about how long ago all of this took place, it does seem to indicate that a pre-Adamite society did exist at one time in the distant past --...... Lets go to Ezekiel 28 and read more about Satan's rebellion. Ezekiel 28:1-10 are after his fall and verses 11-19 are about before his fall. Ezekiel 28:1-19 V1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
V2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a GOD, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not GOD, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: The word "Tyrus" is Strong's 6865 and means Tsor (tsore); or Tsowr (tsore); the same as 6864; a rock; Tsor, a place in Palestine. Strong's 6864 is tsor (tsore); from 6696; a stone (as if pressed hard or to a point); (by implication, of use) a knife. Some may say that this is not talking about Satan at all but as we cover these verses you will see that it can be only him. His heart was full of pride and he thought he was better than God. Seas as it is used here is symbolic of people. Satan is the false rock while Christ is our true Rock. V3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: If you read the book of Daniel you will find that he was a very wise man, but Satan is even wiser. He knows the word of God very well, he just changes it around to suite his needs. He used God's word against Eve and he used it to test Jesus Christ. V4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:
V5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: The word "traffick" is Strong's 7404 and means rekullah (rek-ool-law'); feminine passive participle of 7402; trade (as peddled). Strong's 7402 is rakal (raw-kal'); a primitive root; to travel for trading. Satan has used his great wisdom to get riches by lying and deceiving people. Satan with the help of his friends here on earth, rip people off everyday.

This passage also has near and far prophecy about Lucifer/Satan because although his final end is already sure, it has not happened yet and it occurs after the final judgment (Revelation 20:7-10). In both the Isaiah passage and the Ezekiel passage, the representation is not of Lucifer/Satan as confined to his own person but his working in and the consummating of his plans through earthly kings and rulers who take to themselves divine honors and who, whether they actually know this or not, rule in the spirit and under the aims of Satan. "For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12, NIV). Satan is the principality behind the powers of this corrupt world system.
Notice the statement that is given in the passage in Ezekiel, "the anointed cherub." These statements could never apply to a human king but, they do apply to Lucifer/Satan who is behind the human king.
In verse Ezekiel 28:14 it says, "You were the anointed Cherub." This tells us we are not talking about a human king.
