The Courteney Chronicles.
Over the past 15 years, weve grown up with Courteney Cox Arquette. First we watched her boogie with Bruce Springsteen in his "Dancing In The Dark" music video, then tango with Michael. J. Fox on Family Ties for several seasons. By the time she landed her role of Monica Geller on Friends in 1994, it seemed as if she practically was our Friend.
And we're not the only ones who thought so: according to one of the pilot show's directors, Jim Burrows.
"When we read the pilot, it wasn't so much about six people as it was about Monica's children."
" It's her apartment, it's her brother and she just welcomes you in. You want to hug her, or you want her to hug you".
America still wants to hug Monica. We laughed through her string of bad boyfriends and conspired during her secret love affair with Chandler Bing. And when that affair went public, we watched, boy did we watch! In fact, when Monica and Chandler finally tied the knot, they made television history by having the most watched TV wedding since General Hospital's Luke and Laura in 1981.
And we have Courteney to thank for it, it's rare that you find an actress who is beautiful, who has great comic timing, and who you'd actually want as your Friend. But maybe we don't know this Friend as well as we think we do.
To find out where Monica ends and Courteney begins, we decided to dig deep-to search out the little known facts, the telling details about this lovely woman who's spent so much time in our living rooms.
Here's the real Courteney (Ce Ce to her pals), but do us a favour: What follows is highly sensitive stuff, so keep it quiet.
This is just between Friends.
