
CONVOY TO BAGDHAD FROM TIRKRIT


Received a phone call from Val saying they had to do a 3 hour convoy - to
Tikrit and that their commander was concerned that they might take fire
because they were going through a pro-Saddam area - she asked us to pray
for the Band. Thursday or Friday, right before they got on the Chinnook to
Kirkuk, they had been told that an F16 went down and an Apache as well -
we were able to tell them that all personnel had bailed out safely and were
rescued. Then on to Bagdhad! Then I got this message from one of her
friends here in the Conejo Valley
"Thanks for the update. I love hearing about Valerie and I'm glad that
she's getting the chance to perform. By the way, the pilot of the f16 that went
down on Thursday was my wife's cousin's husband. We were happy to hear
that he was ok. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that Valerie is doing well. Take
Hello all.... Those pictures above were taken at Baghdad International Airport ... let me know if you got the tapes and let me know if you got 5 blankets!!!!! The convoy we got stuck in traffic and the Iraqi people got out of their cars and stared at us ..they got really close up to our faces...that was on our way to Tikrit...we left on another convoy to baghdad and that was when our soldiers were being fired upon at the front gate right as we were leaving...we could have been the ones.....I can't type any faster I have to go now!!!!! love, Val |
