US Bank Feedback - US Bank Complaints
US Bank is the absolute worst bank in the world and maybe the biggest collection of idiots. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH US BANK! THEY ARE INNATELY AND INCORRIGIBLY DISHONEST! IF YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT THERE, GET OUT! First the small stuff, then a "Can you top this?" US Bank horror story. We quit doing business with US Bank once before after some outrageous experiences with them maintaining a hold on our money for days after deposited checks (checks from lawyers and very well known insurance companies) had cleared. Their hold policies are not only unfair and inconvenient, they are arbitrary and unpredictable. So we quit doing business with them when we left Kansas. Now, Can you top this? We foolishly opened another checking account with US Bank when we moved to Ohio. They have branches in some of the states we visit, so we thought it would be convenient to give them another chance. Within 3 months, they had MISTAKENLY GARNISHED our account for $ 2041, Plus they took another $75 out as a garnishment fee for themselves. When I called them, they admitted the mistake: They had failed to check the Social Security numbers on the garnishment order. The SS numbers on the order did not match ours. The names didn't even match ours. The person the garnishment order was against used the name "Clay," while I have always been known by the name "Clayton." This deadbeat’s wife's name was totally different than my wife's name. The US Bank garnishment department told me they had sent my money to a court in Tennessee to satisfy the garnishment order (the garnishment was the result of a judgment against this other person). Believe it or not, they (US Bank) told me that I would have to hire a lawyer to get my money back. Money that US Bank should never have removed from my account in the first place! I told them they had 45 minutes to get my money back into my account, made several threats, and I then called the General Sessions Court in Nashville, which had issued the garnishment order. The clerk at the court told me I would have to hire a lawyer to get the money back, and that I might even have to travel to Nashville! But wait.... She put me on hold.. When she came back, she said that Mike from the Garnishment Department of US Bank had called and that the bank had admitted to making a mistake. But even with this information, she still insisted that I would have to hire a lawyer and maybe travel to Nashville in order to get my money back. She also told me that a shyster lawyer working for a Nashville collection agency had gone fishing for accounts with the debtor's name on it. He had sent similar garnishment orders to Amsouth and several other banks over a period of 2 years. Finally he hit paydirt.. He sent a garnishment order to the idiots at US Bank's Garnishment Department (This is according to the court clerk. Personally, I think the shyster may have used "pretext calling" to learn that US Bank had a customer with a name similar to the debtor's.) Without checking the Social Security numbers, or even the complete names on the order, US Bank gave away my money to the court in Tennessee. My wife and I were apoplectic. Apparently we displayed the proper amount of rage, and made sufficient threats, because before the day was over, the money had been returned to our account. How the bank is going to get its money back from the court or the creditor, I have no idea. As soon as the money got back into our account, my wife and I tried to close out the account that same day and take the balance, over $14,000, in cash. I would rather carry $14,000 on the streets of Cleveland than leave it in the hands of US Bank. But the branch said they didn't have that much cash on-hand. They offered to write a cashier's check. At that point we didn't want to even trust their cashier's check. They then told us it would be better to wait until the next day and get the cash from a larger branch. They said that if they gave us a cashier's check and closed the account right away, we wouldn't be able to cash their cashier's check at another branch because we then wouldn't have any open accounts with US Bank. So we just waited until the next day. We got another branch to write us a check for all but 5 dollars. We promptly took the check and deposited it into another financial institution's money market account. It should be out of reach of US Bank's incompetent hands there. US Bank wouldn't even close our account at that point because we had a transaction pending. What was pending?? You guessed it.. that stupid, measly $5 Five Star Guarantee credit they gave us for all of our trouble. The account still isn't closed. I have had to open a new checking account. I have spent hours on this problem. I would urge anyone to not have anything to do with US Bank -- and spread the word. Your money might be safer under your mattress, or even under your doormat. I sent a letter to the chairman of US Bank and got a reply from "Executive Communications." They said they gave me back my $2000-plus and gave me an extra $5 for my trouble. They said it was unfortunate I found it necessary to close my account. I found it necessary in order to protect my money and save my sanity. This is a bank that promptly gives other people your money but makes you wait days (up to 2 weeks in my experience)to withdraw your deposit, even if it is in the form of a money order or cashier's check. By the way, the reason they claim that they didn't check Social Security numbers on the garnishment order is because they had a lot of legal proceedings to process that day. The way they operate, I have no doubt that they always have a lot of legal claims to process. Banking mistakes are no big deal to US Bank. CH
The Attorney General in Minnesota is aware of US Banks illegal activities. They only investigate and ultimately penalize the bank if they receive a certain number of complaints. File your complaint with the Consumer Complaints dept. of the State Attorney General in the state which you reside. Today they charged a friend of mine $330 for 11 overdrafts caused by a .52 cent error on their part and they won't correct the overdrafts. FIGHT BACK!!!! JC
Fight Fire with Fire at US Bank - I am happy to know I am not alone with the mess of US Bank. Where do I start. 1. Debt cards will allow cash withdrawls (with no money in the account) 2. They lost a $1500.00 payment for a business overdraft. 3. They are never responsible for there f!?k up. 4. They call you every other day just for your convenience. 5. Harassement is a form of customer service. (That is another charge too!) Remember people if we yell loud enough they will listen, it will be too late. Tell everyone that has an account to move to another smaller bank. SS
US BANK STOLE MY CAP ACCOUNT. I never knew others were having trouble with this bank until I found this group. My bank has changed names a few times and I had over $100,000 in a cap account and when they changed over,my Cap account disapeared. Right before this happen they kept telling me to leave all my money in there that it would grow through the years so I left it in there about 5+years and have nothing to show for it.T
Us bank took $ 400.00 out of my account without my permission, for "finance charges" on a truck loan, then charged me $ 100.00 in overdraft charges because my checks bounced. BB
I paid off a lease and am having trouble getting a title. Every time I call U S bank , I am told that they will fax me in 48 hours. Well 48 hours has come and gone many times. It does no good to get an employee name or id because they don't exist the next time you call in or there is no record of your last call. I will just say they never mean what they tell you, otherwords they lie. K
I had the same problem with a second mortgage I had with them on my home. I went to refinance they never would fax a payoff to the new lender, he couldn't believe how arrogant they were and how they would just refuse to work with you even though it meant paying them off. I finally went to the local office and spoke to a branch manager who said she doubted this could happen and gave me the stupid 1-800 number. I told her that if I had to I would get a lawyer and challenge the debt. I think that people could get out of USBank loans by challenging them in court to produce original documentation. I don't think they have anyway to store records and I believe that if they were challenged to produce original instrument of debt in a court of law they probably never could! CNW
Update: I believe that US Bank severely abuses customers. On May 31, 2002, a US Bank branch in Nashville, Tennessee issued a $61,000 check from our US Bank account to a non-owner and unauthorized party. After reporting the unauthorized withdrawal to US Bank, US Bank reacted by refusing service. When we attempted to hold US Bank accountable, US Bank then lied to the OCC, filed false statements in court and denied that we were customers. During court proceedings, US Bank refused and/or failed to produce our banking records from the account. After two and a half years of denials and false statements, US Bank finally admitted negligence. Our deposits were not safe in US Bank. I no longer believe that any customer's money is safe in US Bank. Since it happened to us, it could happen to anyone.Deposits Unsafe in US Bank

Here’s my problem with US Bank: For the past 3 years, a US Bank branch president = my former boyfriend has been stalking me online and using company (First Bank) servers to do it. I cancelled my business and personal US Bank accounts to prevent my ex from accessing my information, and I was assured by my local bank president and a corporate security person that they would take appropriate action to keep this troll from using US Bank /First Bank servers to harass and spy on me. However, THEY NEVER EVEN SPOKE TO HIM ON THE PHONE. They never told him to stop it, they never investigated (and I have logs of my web site showing that this wanker has spent hours of company time, every single day for the past 4 months) and he is still doing it. This is in direct violation of US Bank’s written company policy which is clearly stated on their corporate web site (www.usbank.com). To add insult to injury, the so-called corporate security buffoon I spoke to not only didn’t contact my ex nor act on my complaint, but also spoke to me in a condescending, how-dare-you-besmirch-a-USBank-manager tone. I advise everyone to seek another bank and other financial services. ME
7 years ago I started a checking account with usbank in spokane, wash. and today it hit me, I've been paying $10.00 a monthly fee, some of my co-workers told me it was free checking. So I went to the bank today and they stated I could recieve $30.00 for the last 3 months to be put back into my account. I can talk to the branch mnger when she returns from vacation on mon.4-11-05. They still owe me $810.00 in fees. I had a interest type checking account-this is crazy - M in spokane
$5 check cashing fee - I received a check from a friend for splitting room during computer conference. When I go to cash his check at HIS bank, US Bank, they wanted to charge me $5 because I was not a member of their bank. The check said "US Bank" on it with a local address (sometimes banks won't cash checks from them, if they are out of state) but they don't care. Hell even Wall$Mart only charges $3 to cash a check! And they are not even a bank! H
Do Not Bank at US Bank - I was employed with us bank and it is the most un organized horrible company that I have ever worked for. I never had enough training on exactly how to do my job and I came to us bank with 10 years of banking experience. I worked for the branch in Republic, Missouri and just found out that I was supposed to be getting flood letters for each residential loan and that I was horribly out of compliance. I am sure that if customers knew that loan files were left unlocked in the lobby each night that they would no longer do business with us bank. I was also not paid for my fifth and sixth week of short term disability and was not told until I was off work more than four weeks that I would only be paid for four weeks. us bank treats its employees (in my opinion) terribly. In my branch we had several employees leave the first year I was there. I also felt that they discriminated, and that even the managers didnt know what they were doing. I am glad that I moved on, but I plan on telling everyone I know how us bank operates. W
When I refinanced about a year ago, the mortgage company contacted US Bank for a payoff. It took about a month to get a payoff and that occurred only after threatening legal action and several calls and trips to the bank. Anyone even considering a USBank mortgage should have their head examined! If we ever get a Federal government interested in doing their job of protecting the public again, these crooks will have some serious problems! DL
US Bank froze my account without giving me any notice or warning. I was not able to access my account so was unable to get food, gas, etc. MF
Creeps - US Bank does suck. They have racked me up with 213.00 in overdraft fees in 2 days. The first overdraft fee I take full responsibility for. I promptly made a deposit of 200.00 to cover it and any outstanding purchases. The deposit gave me a positive 44.00 balance until later that day they posted 2 more late charges of 30.00. I discussed it with the _ _ _ _ _ _'s which did no good. I deposited another 200.00 and now they have another overdraft fee of 34.00. I just want to report them to someone!!!!!!!!!!! MR
