McMaster Invitational wrestling Tournament, November 5, 2005
Women Mustangs take two medals -- shut down by US teams.
Terri McNutt placed third at 51 kg along with first year team member Kirby Steinhoff at the McMaster Invitaitonal, the first tournament for both the men and women's team. McNutt lost to the eventual winner Jessica Medina of Cumberland (Kentucky) at 51 kg by decision. Steinhoff, from Delhi and last year's Ontario HS champion (OFSAA) also lost to her Cumberland opponent, Tabetha Golt, as well as Missouri Valley's Lacey Novinska at 72 kg. Overall, the mustang women placed 4th with 12 points, behind first place Cumberland College (74 points), 2. Missouri Valley (34 points) and OUA rival Lakehead who finished 3rd with 18 points. Also scoring team points was Jessica Fitzgerald who placed 5th at 67 kg.

The mustang men also placed 4th overall as a team collecting three individual silver medals. First year team member and London Saunders grad, Matt Steele lost to David Tremblay (Vanier College, Montrreal) at 54 kg; while Kinesiology MA student, Phil Medeiros (61 kg) lost to Guelph's Andrew Townsend. Mustang enginereering student, Vi Nguyen-Huu lost to McMaster's Sheldon Francis at 82 kg. McMaster placed first overall with 45 points, followed by Lakehead (44 points), Concordia (37 points) and Western with 37 points. Mustangs placing in the top 6 scoring overall points were Tosh Jeffrey (4th at 68 kg), Mohammad El Naggar (5th at 76 kg), Dave Legierski (4th at 90 kg), Ryan Stewart (5th at 90 kg), and Jacob Conliffe at 130 kg.
