Western Open
Wrestling Tournament Date: Saturday February 2, 2008
Location: Alumni Hall gymnasium, The University of Western Ontario, London, Canada.
Start Time: 9:00 am to conclusion
Eligibility: Men & Women junior and senior age division (born 1989 or before). All wrestlers must be a member of a team or club recognized by one’s provincial or national association (e.g., OAWA, CAWA, CIS, OUA).
Entry fee: $25.00 per wrestler. Make cheque payable to: “U.W.O. Wrestling”
Rules: CAWA with CIS modification rules.
Draw: Double elimination bracket. Any changes to the draw Saturday prior to start time will be to the discretion of the pairing master (scratches will be treated as “no-shows”, etc.)
Weights: CIS weights with 2.0 kg allowance (use 2.2 lbs per kg for conversion)
Men: 54, 57, 61, 65, 68, 72, 76, 82, 90, 130 + 2 kg.
Women: 48, 51, 55, 59, 63, 67, 72, 82 + 2 kg
Team Scores: Please identify wrestlers who are eligible to compete in CIS league (varsity) and who are CIS ineligible or “club”. Varsity wrestlers only score team points towards overall university team results. Overall open team results will include club and affiliated varsity results.
Weigh-in: 1. Coaches will weigh-in their own team Friday Feb 1st and must conduct a skin check at the time of weigh-ins. All entries must be received by Friday February 2nd by 5:00 pm. Entries must be e-mailed to <TAK@UWO.CA>by the coach and followed up with a phone call for confirmations (661-2111 extension 85078).
2. There will also be a site weigh-in 3:00-5:00 pm at Western Friday 1st. Contact tournament convener if weighing-in on site.
Trainer: There will be trainer on site. Competitors needing taping should bring their own supplies.
