Pledges for Children being Abused     I pledge to take a stand against Child Abuse.  I will try to educate people on the problem of child abuse.  I will make myself available to those children who are suffering.  I will be the voice of those who can no longer speak.  I will not ignore a child who comes to me for help.  I will express to those I come in contact with the importance of reporting abuse of children or instances that are seen as suspicious.  I will express the importance of ending this threat to the children within our communities.  I will help these children in whatever capacity which is made available to me.  I will stand strong and support those who are working to help put an end to child abuse.  I will pass along the importance of everyone's involvement in child abuse if it is ever to end.      I pledge to report all instances of child abuse which I know to be occuring.  I will fill out appropriate statements to authorities or call the child abuse hotline number in my area. (See listing page for national and state by state hotline numbers.)  I will report instances whenever I see bruises, hear screams, suspect something strange about a child's behavior, or a child comes to me and tells me they are abused.  I realize I do not have to give my name to hotline numbers or when I call 911.  I realize I may be the only chance the child has to be safe and happy.  I recognize it is my responsiblitiy as a member of my community to help children who live there to be safe.  I will help a child to live and not end up as another lost life to child abuse.   I pledge to help children be safe by offering myself to them as someone who cares and wants to help them.  I will do this by offering them a safe place to run when they are scared.  I will make calls or find them services which will help them get to a safe place.  I will offer my support and understanding.  I will talk to authorities on their behalf when I am asked to do so or because their safety is in danger.  I will do everything I can when given the opportunity to help a child find peace, safety, and security.  I realize the children in our communities need me to help.  I realize they may not survive without my intervention.  I realize that children who are abused may not be able to take action themselves so I must be their voice.
