Tazi rates in Xalapa are pretty reasonble.. just be sure to ask before getting into one to avoid any surprises..

Buses from Veracruz to Xalapa depart every 20 min. on AU, ADO, ADO and GL.. ADO first class bus.. 74 pesos, 1: 50 minutes
There is a conveniently located TICKET BUS office in el centro Xalapa, a few doors down from Callejón del Diamante, where you can purchase / reserve ADO bus tickets for your return trip to Veracruz and or other destinations... Look for the " yellow sign" with black letters "TICKET BUS"
note: ADO GL from Mexico City Tapo to Xalapa.. 4:45 hrs for about 250 pesos
note: ADO bus service from Reynosa / McAllen (border) to Xalapa .... Bus from Reynosa to Poza Rica.. 11-12 hrs cost 512 pesos.. Change buses at Poza Rica.. then on to Xalapa.. 5 hrs and cost 180pesos.. total of 17 hrs.. Cost around 700 pesos in total..
DIRECT BUS TO AND FROM MEXICO CITY AIRPORT TO XALAPA
There is now a bus that leaves directly from the airport in Mexico City to Xalapa. It leaves the airport at 5:30 and arrives in Xalapa at 10:15 in the evening. It costs around 330 pesos and is quite efficient.
Going to DF there are overnight buses. It leaves Xalapa at 1:15 AM and arrives at D.F. aeropuerto around 6:00 AM..
