Pico de Orizaba
Pico de Orizaba, or Citlaltépetl as the locals call it.. Its located on the border between the states of Veracruz and Puebla. At an elevation of 5,610 m (18,406 ft) above sea level. Pico de Orizaba is the highest peak in Mexico and the third highest in North America. It is a volcanic cone with the last severe eruption occurring in 1566. On a clear day it dominates the sky line and can bee seen from as far-away as Xalapa and even Veracruz....
A picture I took of Pico de Orizaba from an airplane window, while flying from Veracruz to Mexico City, just as dawn was breaking on April 4th.. 2005 at 7:12 AM
and a couple more by my friend Pam shot early morning 4/6/07
TIP: If your flying from Veracruz to Mexico City try to get a window seat on left-hand side of plane for birds eye view of the volcanoe.. (left side also from Mexico City to Veracruz........
