dear diann,
I see on internet, asking if b.e was used in agent orange, but site cannot be accessed.note - part of govt.letter-various forms of the herbicide 2-4-d are registered in victoria 2 of these have present as butoxyethanol ester (I wont put in rest) as .usual lies. from the book Bitter Harvest (Agent Orange) 1980, is stated "preliminary experiments with a number of weedicides indicated that the most promising compound was the butoxyethanol ester of 2-4-5-t, either alone or in combinaiion with the same ester of 2-4-d, a report on the research released in 1960 said.an aust,c,s.i.r.o.report
(book written by john dux and p.j.young here in australia .as you probably know, it is stated the ester have the same effects as the solvent. I also believe that b.e.was used to 95% in mixture ,that is one of the papers that is lost in the piles.that would be 95% in each mixture.
back to the book---"checks on c.s.i.r.o. records reveal that no tests were ever carried out during that time on the possible harmful effects of the herbicides, either individually or mixed. on animals or humans" so muchto say, esp.about b.e, made by bacteria.
I wrote to u.s.a.govt about the bacteria being used in manufature of b.e.(clostridium) the saiddid not know and then a few years back they did do an investigation. I asked a microbiologist about my concern and the person said they could not believe that b.e. was still being made, as 'they'knew about it years ago. also said I was right, it is the spores.
Everyone is exposed to b.e. It is everywhere, all the cleaners and the children in schools are passivly endangered every day. It is a heinous chemical. Our uncaring govt.agency say it should not be used and yet allow it in products to 94%.
I have a internal letter written by dow chemical 1974, advising to change b.e.to p.series .in first para. it states "dowanol e.b.(butoxyethanol)is definitely absorbed through the skin in potentially toxic amounts.this has been presented in 2 toxicological reports "in all the reports the heart breaking birth defects and illnessess with b.e.and its sisters methoxyethanol and ethoxyethanol and their acetates These are not confined chemicals but everywhere and no one knows .
and good on you it is such a relief to find someone who really knows b.e. and you are there for these I see on internet
yrs sincerely
pat snowden 4/4/2005 from Australia

dear diann, share anything you want to ,if it can help anyone at all,re
dioxin, you are exctly right in your belief. Glycol ethers have no safe
exposure, which is no different to a dioxin, and when you see the scientific
papers on the birth defects, it is criminal, you would have followed what
tragedies has happened to i.b.m.workers, whereglycol ethers are named, if i
had anyone here at all, I would have liked to compare the scientific papers
with a large report from america, on the viet.vets childrns. I believe the
other glycol ethers were used as well. There is this from book-chemical
deception by marc lappe-who you poss.know, re birth defects. j.l.welch, memo
to k.d.kover,env.protection agency,29 april 1983, re eastman kodaksmarch
1983, section 8 (E) submissionon ethylene glycol butyl ether. Get acopy from the
united states epa, ask for paper not microfilm.when i feel a bit better I
will send some copies to you. I am so relieved, after all these years ,to see
you write,regards pat

Pat, in order to stop the harm of this chemical, first it has to be recognized ... and then prove FATIGUE
