Vivism & Plants ("Plantism") In the introductional pages (now on www.vivism.info) a few consequences of practising Vivism for plant-life allready have been mentioned: ("plants aren't eaten either", "wood is used as little as possible", "branches aren't torn, sawed, or cut off", "gras is not mowed", "weeds are spared", etcetera.). The principle, that "plants are not killed, wounded, hurt, made less healthy, or treaten rudely", of course has many more consequences. On this page the subject is going to be treaten as completely as possible. Follow three sub-titles: "Vivism and Trees", "Vivism and Flowers", "Vivism and other plants". "Vivism and Trees" "Wood is used as little, as possible", is said in the intro as mentioned. Because trees are also living plants, they are not cut, when Vivism is practised. What are the consequences of this? -
One of the first things to think off, is, that this material is left out in building and furnishing houses. A very positive side-effect is, that the danger of fire is reduced strongly. In a way it is ununderstandable, that this material keeps being used, while so many victims have beencaused alreadyby buildings getting into fire. -
Secondly one may think of paper; made out of wood. The NF has suggested years ago, that apart from daily newspapers, also weekly ones might be edited. This, because for many, who now don't have even the time, to read it daily, or are not interested that much, it would be sufficient, to readthe news once a week. This of course would spare many tree-lives. Furthermorea big reductionin paper-usemight be reached, if cotton would be used instead, whereever possilbe). -
Tropical rainforests are not only being cut down, to get their expensive kinds of wood, like mahony, ebony and teak, they are alsopartly burned down, so that the ground, that comes free, can be used as agricultural ground. In these two ways, every year a plain, as big as Great-Brittain, disappears. When this goes on, in some thirty-five years there will be no 'lungs of earth' any more. The best way, to reduce the constantly growing need of agricultural ground, is changing the feeding-pattern intothe vegetarian one. Growing plant-food takes much less ground, than production of animal- food. Besides vegetarian, veganist, and above all fruitarian diet make it much better possible, to practice the natural way of anti-conception. In this way the continuousgrowth of the planet's population can be stopped, so that the same would go forto the need of agricultiural grounds. -
Very often trees are cut, because houses are built on their place. One can ask him/herself,in how far all miserablethings, that happen afterwards in the new built houses, must be seen as a punishment, which wouldn't have had to be undergone, when the inhabitants would have started living in a caravan, or another kind of home, under and between the trees, thathave beencut now. -
Fir-trees are liked very much by humans; so much, that in winter they cut them by the billions andplace their dead body, decorated and well,in a heated room. Indeed it would be more wise, to bike or even walk to a fir-tree forest in those days and enjoy their elegance and good smell there. "Vivism and Flowers" -
By cutting or picking flowers, the plant, to which they belong, is not killed. In a way it is mutilated; it looses some important parts. Flowers are important for the plant, they belong to, because with them theymake the world look beautifull, which brings them the sympathy, they need. So taking flowers away from them not only wounds them fysically, but also innerly. This may be one of the reasons, why "Flower Power", the very positive youth-movement in the sixties, didn't survive. Those people really had the best intentions; they wanted to be completely peacefull and just enjoy pure life and the beauty of nature. To show that, they picked many flowers and decorated themselves with them. Allas they didn't realise, that by doing so, they did something very nature-hostile. Most likely because of this, they didn't reach the "nirwana", they were aiming for. That in its turn, most likelymadethem try to compensate thisby use of drugs, which was the beginning of the end. -
Dutch tulips are marvelous. But this plant grows especially in these climatological circumstances; it is at home here; in other regions other flowers are at home. So, allthough it is a very interesting economical activity, to export tulips to many other countries, it may not bring the personal well-being, that is hoped for, because it is a rather nature-hostile activity. Why don'tthe Dutch enjoy their flowers themselves and grow all kinds of fruits on the grounds, that wouldn't be necessary any more then, for the culture of export-flowers? (Of course exporting just flower-seeds is much less nature-hostile). -
By mowing verges, mostly not only grass is cut off, also many flowers use to be. All those poppies, corn-flowers, ox-eye daisies, and so on, cut down, just like that; it's a very sad event. To continue: "Vivism and other plants"
