Special Stitch - Berry Stitch variation (B st):

Yo, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop; yo and pull through the same loop (you now have three loops on the hook); yo, insert hook into same stitch and pull up a loop (you now have five loops on the hook); yo and pull through four loops (leaving two loops on the hook); yo and pull through last two loops to complete.

NOTE:  All odd/wrong-side rows:   sc; ch 1 and turn.

 

For 7” wide x 9” high square, with soft 4 ply acrylic yarn and G/6 hook, ch 28.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across (27 sts); ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first sc, B st in next sc, *sc in next three sc, B st in next sc; rep from * across, ending w/sc in last sc; ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.

Row 4: Sc in first three sc, *B st in next sc, sc in next three sc; rep from * across; ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.

Row 6: Sc in first sc, B st in next sc, *sc in next three sc, B st in next sc; rep from * across, ending w/sc in last sc; ch 1, turn.

Row 7: Sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-7 to 9”.
