Public Astronomy Parties
| ICAS hosts free public astronomy parties each month. If you are curious about astronomy or want to meet local amateur astronomers, these events are a great starting point. Star parties are held at Fort Nugent Park (2075 SW Fort Nugent Road) in Oak Harbor. Most special viewing events like Moon and Mars parties are held at City Beach Park in Oak Harbor. All of these events are open to the public and no telescope is required. Astronomy parties may be cancelled due to inclement weather or poor visibility. Never been to an astronomy party before? Dress warmly, bring binoculars (if you have them), and please remember to use your parking lights only as you enter the park. Astronomy party weather forecast. NEXT EVENT: STAR PARTY FOR HELP HOUSE Friday, July 11th 7pm - 12am Windjammer Park, Oak Harbor Explore the night sky and view distant galaxies, nebulas, Jupiter, and our closest celestial neighbor (the moon) through an assortment of telescopes. Island County Astronomical Society members will be on hand to answer questions and collect donations of canned food or money for North Whidbey HELP House, a local food bank. People of all ages are welcome to attend. | | | | | | | Dumbbell Nebula (M27) Photo Credit: Andy Nielsen | | Andromeda Galaxy (M31) Photo Credit: Rick Owens | | ICAS event information listed on this site is believed to be accurate but is subject to change.
