Telling your story effectively
Your testimony is one of the most effective ways of sharing your faith. People can argue for ever about ideas and doctrines, but they cannot really argue about what has happened to you! It is however very important to write your testimony in a way that non-Christians can understand. It is so easy to think that 'one size fits all' - that the way you might give your testimony in church is the same way that you should share it with non-Christians. In fact, a totally different approach is needed.
Firstly, we must avoid any sort of Christian jargon. It is possible to rephrase almost every Christian expression into words which people can more easily understand. Read this excellent OnMission feature:

It is also important to make the story seem as 'real' as possible by including little details - even whether it was raining.
