| | EASTER 2004 — STATEMENT FROM THE COMMUNITY AND LEADERSHIP OF WELSH REPUBLICAN COMMENT To All who long for freedom... |
The community of Welsh Republican Comment at this important time in the history of Welsh Republicanism takes this opportunity to extend fraternal greetings to our comrades throughout the world, both in the field and those imprisoned, because of their commitment to the struggle for national liberation and their continued adherence to the authentic and principled teachings of our heroic patriot dead. We also acknowledge the growing aid and support unselfishly provided by our supporters and friends overseas, especially the Welsh Communities of United States.
Likewise, we emphasise our support for and solidarity with all those oppressed peoples throughout the world, who struggle against the evil and tyranny of imperialist military might and colonial exploitation. Your struggle for liberty, truth and justice is our struggle.
We urge all Republicans to take heart from those who have remained faithful to their Republican beliefs and steadfast in their determination to resist Saxon England’s continued occupation of Cymru. There are many of our Irish republican Celtic forefathers and fallen Welsh martyrs whose lives are an example to us all here in Cymru. We pledge ourselves to continue the fight to re-educate and thus build upon our republican principles. In short, to do all that is needed to free our people from their chains and manacles.
The invasion of Iraq and its rejection by most people in Cymru illustrates that when we are chained to Westmister’s sham democracy, we are not free.
In terms of Irish Freedom, we find it typical that England removes democracy from the Occupied Six Counties due to “IRA spies in Stormont” whilst at the same time the UK, with Blair’s full knowledge, is spying on the General Secretary of the United Nations. Liars and thieves who raped our land, language and culture- but no more!
We agree with the words of Patrick Pearse:
"I make the contention that the national demand of Ireland is fixed and determined; that that demand has been made by every generation; that we of this generation receive it as a trust from our fathers; that we are bound by it; that we have not the right to alter it or to abate by one jot and that any undertaking made in the name of Ireland to accept in full satisfaction of Ireland's claim anything less than the generations of Ireland have stood for is null and void."
Cymru is free in our hearts and will be a Free Nation when we rise again.
Fe Godwn ni eto! Rebecca.
