This can be a screen shot of your photo album showing when you loaded it, a message board showing the time and date, or of your own documents. You can right click on your harddrive and copy the properties of your works and it will give you the date and time of creation. But what we need to address now is trademark. You can tell an item is trademark by the TM and the registered mark. These trademarks are just not registered, they are PAID FOR. A company pays thousands and thousands of dollars for their trademarks and they guard them jealousy. Think you can use them, justifying they are big companies they won't care what I do, I am not hurting them....well, that is true...BUT it will not stop them from coming after you. These companys PAY for the right of trademark protection and they jealousy guard their rights. They have dozens and dozens of lawyers on retainer JUST TO HANDLE THIS. It will not cost these high power companies ONE cent/pence to come after you. Their lawyers are BEING PAID to do this daily. These sort of cases just justifies these high power company keeping them on retainer. So it is wrong to violate copyrights. However, when you violated Trademarks you run the risks of more than just losing your site. You run the risk of having to hire a lawyer to defend youself against their charges. It won't cost them anything, but can you afford fees to your lawyers.....???? We want to thank Echo for reminding us that Bandwidth theft applies to your message boards, too. When you post a poem with graphics or a funny....it brightens everyones day. Just remember you need to download the funny or the poem's graphics to YOUR album, not copy and paste directly from that site. I'd like to thank DMAT for allowing me to link this to their No No list. A way to check your pictures to make sure they are safe to use. This procedure sounds long and involved but in fact it is not. It can save you the hassles of knowing whether a gif is ©. 1. SAVE THE PICTURE TO DESKTOP. 2.OPEN NOTEPAD. 3. DRAG THE PICTURE ICON FROM DESKTOP INTO THE NOTEPAD. (-you will see the html coding) 4. CLICK ON EDIT AND FIND. 5.TYPE IN © ( alt- 0169) If the picture is © it will show up highlighted in blue. if the gif is not © it will say not found........so you can use it with safety......
