Singapore Open 2001.
In Singapore, everything turned out okay mainly because most of us get to play the higher division because of lack of Open Division players. Suwitchai, Wittaya, Sakhon (who had beaten Daniela DiToro in France 2001) and another girl came. A handful of Taiwanese girls also came to play the Womens A Division.
Indeed, most of us Malaysians triumphed over Singaporeans but had to succumb to stronger players from Thailand and Indonesians. Bad news was, two top Singaporean men players did not play with different excuses but I sense it was more to personal problem towards SSCD management.
This time, for the girls, the Lim and Norisah scorched the Kallang Tennis Center when they met Lim Poh Eng and Alice Chung. Singaporeans were well beaten with very good results. Norisah beat Poh Eng in rubber sets, I think, and Lim beat Alice in straight sets.
Well, I too, managed to kick some asses in this tournament despite being placed in the Second Draw in the Singles and Main Draw in the Doubles event! Take a look at three of the
photos taken there. No, not the shots where I was kicking asses!
