Breeding
Just a couple things on breeding to start us off.
Breeding is optional, seeing it's not easy getting in the mood to breed every season.
If you're a horse, breeding age is three years. If you are a canine it's two years old. For a feline it's only a year. And for a human it's ten. Regardless of breed/species, since this makes it so much easier. Those that breed that young will likely have some sort of problem or be stunted in their own growth.
And remember, if you are spaded or a gelding, you obviously can't breed! Humans can spray or geld you, and with their forced primative means it will probably be painful.
On a similar note, obviously homosexual relationships won't be having any children either. No genetic recombination happening here. If you really want to have children but can't, perhaps ask the gods.
For an equine, breeding takes place either Spring or Summer. If you breed in Spring, the foal will be born in late Winter, and if you breed in Summer the foal will be born in Spring. Equines only have one baby each.
For a canine, breeding takes place in Spring or Fall. If you breed in Spring, the puppy will be born in Fall, and if you breed in Fall the puppies will be born in Spring. Canines may have one or two babies.
For a feline, breeding takes place in Summer or Winter. If you breed in Summer, the kittens will be born in Fall, and if you breed in Winter the kitten will be born in Spring. However, you can only have one litter a year. Felines may have one or two babies.
For a human, breeding takes place in any season since humans' heat cycles are controlled by the moon and not the sun. The baby is born three seasons later. Humans may have one baby.
An equine's breeding life is at the most 15 years, life span of 18. A canine's breeding life is at most 13 years, life span of 15. A feline's breeding life is at most 9 years, life span of 10 years. A human's breeding life is at most 35 years, life span 50.
If you're a cross between types, you get to pick when your season is and whatnot.
And you may cross bred! Canine with equine, feline with canine, feline with human, human with equine! When we say cross breeding we mean among the types, not just like a lion to a tiger but like a horse to a wolf. Go ahead, knock yourselves out if you want to! Just be forewarned that more problems are likely to arise with cross breeding to different types and cross breeding success should be determined by a manger, a manger will likewise tell you what the baby looks like (you may request it look a certain way). Anyway, have fun!
You may not breed within your own characters.
You may role play breeding if you wish.
You may force another player to breed. However, you have to role play it out and you can't just mount, shoot, and run off in the same post. You have to give the other player a chance to fight back. More like mout, give other player a chance to fight, finish placing seman, let other person fight, then run away. If I put that in too crude a fashion for sake of clarity, please forgive me.
Unless you're cross breeding, assume yourself to be pregnate.
Remember there are no mates for life. You can breed with whoever you want to, though leaders may request you only breed with them or else.
You may breed on any board (post a warning message first if it's going to be graphic!). This also means anyone can just walk it and interrupt you, so to speak. Once finished and if cross breeding inform a manager on the General Board.
The parents decide on name, gender, and both babe and adult looks, personality, ect unless crossbreeding. A manger can tell you it's health, any problems you have during breeding, and the week and season it will be born in if you can't figure that part out for yourself or if fate decides to play a 'hateful' game on you. The exact day of the birth is up to who ever plays the babe. If you do not want to decide or can not decide on its name, gender, or pictures then I'm sure someone will be happy to help you out.
Be sure to make a new post on the Character Board for any babes produced.
If the mother nor father wants to role play the baby, it can be given to someone else to play or killed.
That's about all you need to know. Any questions or need help, just ask us.
Fighting
You may fight for anything, such as land, prisoners, pride, position, or death. Land can only be challenged for by leaders and/or their armies. This is because only leaders have land. It's what your groups live on, basically its control of the message boards. If you, say, own a meadow you can chase off everyone else you don't want in said meadow.
Prisoners is where a stolen creature challenges for their freedom or where a leader and their army or even a loner fights to make someone their slave (max one slave per loner or three slaves per leader). This is basically an open steal where you pick from the loosers who you want to keep. For instance humans would fight to make another creature their property or might be raided for the slaves they have.
Pride can be fought for by anyone. It's basically over nothing, either a fun challenge or if another character offended yours, such as forcing you to mate with them or cussing you out or whatnot. Just showing who's boss.
Position because in some groups you have to fight to earn your rank. Such as in special armies. This is only among members of the same group, a horse and a dog would not be fighting for position.
Death is where you set out to kill one of the characters in the fight. This could be a fight to make another creature your meal.
I'm fairly certain that covers all the things you'd like to fight over. If not, tell me so I can add it on the General board.
Now, about leaders and armies. I assume everyone knows you just gather a few members from your group and allies and just charge in (after declaring it to the other leader and agreeing on terms, either OOCly for a secret raid or ICly for an open war). These battles are held the same as all others, just that there may be more than one.
All fights are role played out. You can figure out who wins by yourselves or ask on the General Board and a manager will kindly judge it on damage and skill.
Fights take place anywhere, but both players must first agree to any terms. Such as what's being fought over, how long it takes, ect.
Generally, a fight will be between three and ten posts each. It should not last more than one week real time. You should role play out your wounds during and after the fight. You should not dodge each attack. You can not say if your attack lands. You should tell what damage is done from attacks. One way to do a fight is to allow no dodging and only one attack each post until one submits near the end.
You can fight one on one or two on one or even three on one. If you fight more than three on one, the group will win no matter what. You're just beating them for the fun of it now.
If there's more than one fight taking place on the same ground, you may want to create a new thread so as there's no confusion. Likewise, each fighter should post in order, such as 1, 2, 3; not 1, 2, 3, 2, 1. Basically in a fight everyone involved must post once, only then does everyone get to post again.
Horse-sized animals will likely win against one canine or feline, and may even win against two or three. I want to see canines hunting in packs and felines either doing likewise or hunting smaller prey. All things will probably win against an unarmed human, though a human is allowed to use primative weapons/armor and ride on another creature into battle.
If you need help fighting or learning how to fight, check out The Big Battle Plan for tips or research how your chosen species of animal actually survives in the wild.
That's it. There's nothing comlicated there, right? ^_^
