What are faeries and where do they come from?

The words 'fey' and 'faerie' come from the French and started to replace the Old English 'Elf'
during the Tudor period. Spenser and Shakespeare popularised the change.Norse mythology relates
how the maggots emerging from the corpse of the giant Ymir transformed themselves into the Light
Elves and the Dark Elves. Light elves, living in the air, are benign, happy creatures, but the
dark elves, whose domains are the underground regions, are swarthy, evil and blighting.

There are many names that faeries go by;Faeire, fey, fay, the gentry, the good people, the good neighbors,
the people of peace, the fair family, the twylyth teg, pixies,
piskies, the daione o'sidhe, the sith, the seely court.

There are many different type of faerie creatures and each of these are in their own family group.
inhabiting their own earthly elements.

Storms-they are small, 4 to 5 feet high , They seldome come down to earth level

WATER SPIRITS
Swimming in the rivers and streams, unseen by most, are the Water Faeries. They can be

There are two groups of earth faeries.Above ground and underground faeries. On the surface these
