Dressing Candles

  • Before you start the exercise you should sit quietly for a bit or meditate, whichever you feel best at.
  • Allow your energies to be built up inside you and around you, now for dressing your candle:
  • If your 'intention' is to bring something to you (i.e: money or a lover), rub the oil onto the candle in a downward motion, from the top to the middle and then from the middle down to the bottom!
  • But, if your intention is to send something away from you (i.e: a curse or an unwanted lover) then rub the oil from the middle of the candle out of the ends!

Please note that you can use any oil that you like. I think its best to start off with a favourite oil, such as lavander. Unless it states otherwise.

To ease confusion you should not rub the candle with a back and forth motion/ movement. If you do, you may start to even confuse the energies let alone yourself!

  • Continue with this movement until you have a sense, or you just know its the right time to stop. If you do have any oil left on your hands either rub them together or put some on your forehead (also known as your 3rd Eye)!
  • You can say something like the following or make something similiar up yourself: I cleanse and consecrate this candle. In the name of the Lord and Lady*. May it burn with strength in the service of the Greater Good.

*Lord and Lady- you may replace these names with your chosen deities if you wish to.
