Wooden Boat Builder members,
Thank you for getting on board with the Wooden Boat Builder Group Site on MSN Groups. Your involvment is greatly appreciated. This letter is a request for you to participate further.
Most of you know that I created this group/community with the notion that MSN Groups is an awesome interactive public venue for this topic. As most of the websites currently available on this topic seem to lack focus, I felt it was necesary to create some focus for us.
Mission Statement (rough draft):
Our mission is to evolve (through time) this web community into the best source on the net for wooden boat building information, links, resources, and comradery. Educate each other and all who desire to further their knowledge and fuel their passion for wooden and classic boats. Introduce, expose, and apprentice the youth in our communities to sustain the craftsmanship and future of wooden boats and boat building. This we do with solice and without expectation of monetary gain. Whether you are a novice, amatuer, or professional, you are welcome here.
Personally, it has taken the better part of my life to realize that I have to be messing about with boats in order to remain happy. The most enjoyable times I can remember have allways involved wood and water. It all started in my youth. Further back than my memories can recall. I have a great many stories to tell because woooden boats are in my blood. But enough about me because this web community is about us.
I implore you to:
1) Set your email setting to: "Inbox" (Send all messages immediately to your e-mail inbox.) so you can communicate with each other in a more timely fashion. Or at least stop in and read the message posts regularly. You can do that here: http://groups.msn.com/WoodenBoatBuilder/_emailsettings.msnw
2) Reply to the welcome messages and greet new members so they too can feel at home here.
4) Add text descriptions to your uploaded photos. Keeping in mind that I will create a web page for you and your projects. A progression of sorts. If you allready have a webpage post the link so we can get to know you and your projects. Example: http://groups.msn.com/WoodenBoatBuilder/memberprojects.msnw
6) Post messages regularly. Start up a conversation. Ask questions of other members. Tell us your stories. Yes, we probably do want to know.
7) Let me know if you have the time to assist with the management of this site. "No Experience Necesary". I will update your roll from member to assistant manager. This would include accepting new member applications, moderating, and web page creation.
8) Mentor the youth in wooden boat building in your communities.
9)Have fun, enjoy, communicate with other members that share your interest, participate in a scheduled chat session, and of course, build your own boat. Or, finish, fix, or restore, that boat.
Keep the wood and the water alive...
Thank you for your time,
-Kruez-
