The Bhatia family of which Chandrakala Daru is a member are from a western indian
community called the Kuchhi Bhatia.
Chandrakala Bhatia is the only child of Haridas Bhatia FRCS {he was the first member of the Kuchhi Bhatia community to become a surgeon] and Benabhai Kalayanji Thaccar. Her father Haridas Bhatia was the son of Jamnadas Bhatia who resided in Kolapur; his wife's name is unknown.
Benabhai Thaccar was the daughter of Kalayanji Thaccar who was the first Khuchhi Bhatia to become a barrister. Her mother [name is unknown] was daughter of the Prime Minister {Deewan} of a princely state [either Jodhpur or Bikaner]. The Deewan had at least one brother, named ?Misri Mal?
