Common Email Problems: How to fix them.
For problems with unwanted emails from YIH which you may be receiving:
Go to Member Tools (left menu bar, at bottom)
Go to Check Your Email Settings.
On that page, under Messages, you will see 3 choices:
Inbox - This choice puts EVERY post on this group into your inbox as an email. It is erroneously called a "cool feature", but is actually a source of lots of irritation, generally. Especially if your inbox is limited and the group gets active on a given day. If you have this feature selected, you will see a little red star beside your name when you click on your name to see your member profile, or check on your Email Settings. (People often join a group and select this feature, then forget they joined the group. Then they think they are receiving spam email from a group and ask the group to stop the email. The group cannot stop this email. You MUST change your selections in Member Tools yourself to make them stop).
Daily Digest - This feature puts one longer email in your inbox per day, combining all the posts that day into one email. It can still clog up your inbox.
On The Web - This is the "no email" feature most people want. No email is sent to you with posts from the group. To read posts, you must go to the group and read them online.
* If your name doesn't have the "cool feature" red star beside it, but you are still receiving unwanted emails, that means you haven't selected "Inbox", but you may have selected "Daily Digest".
Change your selection to "On The Web" by clicking next to that choice.
You may also have the Group Reports checked. Look at Group Reports, and see 3 choices:
Daily - A daily report of what activity went on in the group that day, sent as an email.
Weekly - A weekly report of the group activity for that week, sent as an email.
Never - This choice cancels all the group report emails.
Select "Never" and group reports emails you may be getting will stop.
Go to the bottom of the page, and click Save Changes. This should solve your problem.
