By all means, it is an honour and a privilege to be a member of the Zelda Community's staff. However, it is not a thing to be taken as lightly as some may think. Assistant Managers and Knights are not hired on request. They gain their place in the group's hierarchy by obedience, activity, dedication, and above all, friendliness. It is a rare occasion that a new member of staff is hired, but it is a great honour when one is. All staff members should be respected by the members, for theirs is a definite position of respect. The following is a description of the powers, duties, and expectations of each tier of staff.

The Powers, Duties, and Expectations of the Manager.

As founder and manager of the Zelda group, Nabooru carries a special burden above all other staff members. She has every power over the group as its manager. If she so desired, she could delete the group complete; of course, such a thing is not like your manager.

Primarily, she has the highest authority over the group's laws, sections, appearance and management. When there is a long-standing dispute or question as to how something should be done, it is she who holds the authority to settle the matter, and it is her word over anyone else's. As the manager, she also holds the power to assign projects to other staff members. Nabooru holds these powers in addition to all powers of an assistant manager, as described below.

It is the duty of the Manager, above any other, to keep the group active, clean, and in good shape. If there is a problem between other staff members, it is her duty--and not anyone else's--to keep that dispute off the boards. If it is relative to the group, she must act as mediator between those staff-members and keep the peace in order to display a solid, united front amongst the staff. In the absence of a staff-member assigned to a particular duty, such as the Layout Manager, it is her duty to take up this job until another can be assigned. It is also her duty to remain active so that the group may remain active.

Nabooru holds high expectations. More than anyone else, she stands as the group's figurehead and must maintain to represent what the group stands for. Just like any member of the group, staff or not, she is not excepted under any law of the group. She must follow the rules as much as anyone else should. She must represent everything she expects her own staff, and to a lesser extent, her own members to be.

In case of an extended absence by the Manager, the Manager's duties and expectations fall to the second or seconds in command, the head Assistant Manager.

The Powers, Duties, and Expectations of an Assistant Manager.

Literally, an Assistant Manager has the power to do anything except delete the group or demote Nabooru. However, the rules of the Zelda group restrict an assistant to more than this alone. An Assistant Manager may NOT create or alter in any way any new page, board, list, other content, or any of the group's modifiers, hire or demote another Assistant Manager without the expressed permission of the Manager. An Assistant Manager possesses the power to delete any unsuitable thread created by a member of the group. He or she also possesses the power to warn, remove, or ban members from the group if a rule is defied. In addition, an assistant manager has the ability to knight a well-deserving, active member of the group. Except under special circumstances, these powers do not require the expressed approval of the Manager; however, it is preferred that these things are brought to her attention before a final decision is made.

It is the primary duty of an Assistant Manager to monitor activity on the boards and to keep the boards active with new details. Assistant Managers are hired to keep the site fun and clean and should always contribute new news and content as it is discovered. They are also welcomed to gather members opinions on the group and give Nabooru ideas and suggestions for new sections, boards, or on how to improve in general. In the unlikely event that a rule is broken by another member of the staff, it is the duty of an assistant to bring this to the Manager's attention; it is not his duty to take the situation into his own hands.

Assistant Managers are expected to obey the rules and remain active. Every now and then, an Assistant Manager may disappear for a long period of time. In the event that a staff member does this continuously, a decision must be made on whether to keep or demote that assistant.

In the unlikely event that no AMs are active for a duration of time, group helpers should, to the best of their ability, act as assistants until a true Assistant Manager has returned to the boards.

The Powers, Duties, and Expectations of a Knight.

A group helper, or a Knight, is an exalted member of the group without any actual power. Rather, his position is one of honour amongst other members. A Knight's power is limited to the notion that they have been given an honourary role as experienced members of the group and know what's best for other members.

The duty of a Knight is simply to help the assistant managers in keeping the group a great place to be. While the assistant managers are the enforcers of the group's laws, the Knights carry the lighter, more optimistic duties. They carry out their duty by setting examples for newer members, helping others with questions and guiding them to becoming better, more respectable members. It is not their duty to point out another's faults; in cases where another member has broken a rule and it has not yet been discovered, it is the duty of a Knight to privately bring this to the attention of a higher member of staff.

A Knight is expected to keep his image as clean towards other members as any Assistant Manager should, yet act as though he has no more power than a member. It is frowned upon for a Knight to boast in their title when its entire meaning is one of a more humble honour. A knight is also expected to remain active and contribute often.
