Henry Chin was a dedicated Pre-Med student at Pine Valley University, where he garnered quite a reputation. Henry was always an overachiever, and according to his ex, Regina, he wasn't to be trusted.
Outgoing Maggie Stone was intrigued by Henry, who seemed standoff-ish and distant when they were first paired up as lab partners in Organic Chemistry. Regina warned Maggie that working with Henry would take Maggie nowhere in reaching her goal of becoming a doctor. Maggie wanted to find out for herself and began breaking down Henry's icy exterior.
Henry explained that he's driven hard by his mother, Alma, who only wants the best for him. But Henry dismissed Maggie, thinking she wouldn't understand because it was "an Asian thing."
The more time they spent together, the more chemistry they understood. It wasn't long before they shared a kiss! It became apparent that Henry wasn't nearly as concerned about his and Maggie's culture clash as his mother was. Alma ran a Chinese restaurant and wanted Henry to find a nice Chinese girl to settle down with.
During their relationship, Maggie discovered that Henry had a passion for music, especially the guitar. She encouraged him to pursue his talent; she even made a tape and had it played at an Amateur Night. Unfortunately, Henry's mother disapproved of his dream to be a musician and further pushed him to become a doctor and to avoid Maggie.
Henry studied hard with Maggie for their Organic Chemistry mid-term exam, but when the exam came, Henry froze. Maggie saw Henry was in trouble and let him copy off of her exam. But Regina saw them cheating!
The professor accused Maggie of cheating and Henry refused to confess, not wanting to ruin his future career. Maggie, meanwhile, faced expulsion because everyone believed she had copied off of Henry's paper. Maggie broke up with Henry after this betrayal. In an effort to win her back, Henry finally confessed and even consoled her during the death of her baby cousin.
Henry and Maggie decided to try just being friends, and Maggie helped Henry move into Myrtle Fargate's boarding house, after he was kicked out of his own home for being expelled from school. Now free to pursue his music, Henry joined a rock band and left Pine Valley to go on tour. Before he did, he and Maggie shared a heartfelt goodbye.
