From the CBLDF Two titanic comic studios. Eight colossal artists. Wildstorm's Jim Lee, Ale Garza, Carlos D'anda, and Richard Friend faced off against Aspen's Michael Turner, Marcus To, Koi Turnbull, and Micah Gunnell in the art battle of the year, all to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Now you can own the pieces! Starting today on eBay, the CBLDF is proud to offer all eight pieces from the Aspen v. Wildstorm Iron Gelatomettista art jams. Originally waged throughout the Fall on Wildstorm's Gelatometti blog, this Iron Gelatomettista battle gave each artist one hour to belt out their best drawing of fan-favorite characters. No punches were pulled as each studio put their all into each of these knockout pieces! Iron Gelatomettista chief Ale Garza explains, "This was our first challenge against another studio and it was a WILD ride to the very end! All the battles were really close and with the final contest between Jim and Mike weighted with two points, we were all excited to see how it was gonna end!" "Aspen was honored to be the first studio to go up against the Wildstorm guys and help bring some more attention to a worthy cause," says Vince Hernandez, Aspen's editorial director. He adds, "Having the guys here draw something in an hour and knowing that fans everywhere will get to choose their favorite is like being on stage in front of a big audience, plus there's also that rush of adrenaline pushing them all the way. Hopefully, the money raised from this will keep that positive momentum going." Garza adds, "The CBLDF is a great cause and the guys on the Gelatometti are all proud to show our support by donating all the art from the challenges. A lot of fun goes into each drawing and we hope that fans can not only vote on their favorites, but hopefully own them while benefiting comics in return." "The Fund is lucky to have great allies like this," says CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein. "It's this kind of support that gives us the funds we need to pull out the legal muscle that stops prosecutors in their tracks. This auction comes right as we're preparing funds for a court battle to defend Georgia retailer Gordon Lee, and should be a great fundraiser to help us head to victory in that case." To bid on these pieces visit http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZcbldf The auction starts today at noon PT on eBay and will close the following week.

Newsarama: DC Unveils New Logo
It's official! Frank Miller will be writing "All-Star Batman & Robin" w/ art by Jim Lee. Huge. This is reported by the New York Times and previously posted on The Pulse. "Mr. Miller has been announced as the writer of "All-Star Batman and Robin," which will be published by DC Comics in July as part of a new group of titles in which top artists and writers will create stories not bound by decades of continuity. (In this case, Batman's partner is Dick Grayson, the first and best-known Robin, not Tim Drake, the third boy in the role.)" This just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? =) -Eddy

DC PRESS RELEASE FRANK MILLER AND JIM LEE TAKE ON THE DYNAMIC DUO IN ALL-STAR: BATMAN AND ROBIN Superstar artist Jim Lee will be joined bylegendary writer and Batman visionary Frank Miller on DC's upcoming ALL-STAR: BATMAN AND ROBIN. The series, scheduled to make its debut later this year, marks Miller's first work on the Dark Knight since 2001's acclaimed THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN, and Lee's return to Batman following 2002's best-selling "Hush" storyline in BATMAN. "If there was one creator I wanted to work with when I was a fan, it would have been Frank Miller," says Lee, "so after this project, I think I'm going to be ready to retire! Seriously, it will be the pinnacle of my career so far, and I can't wait to get started. Frank and I have had a couple of meetings about the story, and it's going to rock!" Miller says, "This is Dick Grayson's initiation and he's dealing with a very stern teacher. Batman is a hard teacher - unforgiving. Brutal. At the same time, Grayson is watching Batman come into his full power. Me and Jim Lee get to play with all of DC's toys. It'll be a romp. It'll be a lot of fun. I plan on raiding DC's treasury of characters. There won't be a Black Canary or a Wonder Woman unused." "This is quite an honor and, needless to say, a fairly daunting task that DC has bestowed upon me by handing me the helm of ALL-STARS," says Group Editor Bob Schreck. "Being able to help these incredibly talented creators bring their amazing tales to life on the comics page is going to be one heck of a ride, no doubt. I can't wait until the readers get to see what's in store for them." "Frank was instrumental in redefining Batman for a new generation, and I, for one, can't wait to see him bring that same level of clarity and interpretation to Dick Grayson and Robin," says Dan DiDio, VP - Executive Editor, DCU. "With the teams now set for the two ALL-STAR books, BATMAN AND ROBIN and SUPERMAN, everyone should agree that they meet the expectations set for these series: All Star creators working on iconic versions of our All Star characters - it doesn't get much better than this." -Eddy
