As for hotels, you would want to stay in the 'downtown' core using Yonge Street/Bloor Street which is a far north as you should go. For east that would be Parliment Street and for west Spadina Avenue. Don't worry about south, why, Yonge Street divides the city from east to west and starts at Lake Ontario.

Most of the hotels listed are either on or very near to a Subway station and line which runs north and south under Yonge Street. For Blockorama you would exit at the Wellesley Subway station. When you exit the station at street level, directly across the street there'll be a parking lot (transformed) to a Market Place. Just walk through the jungle of vendors to the south end of the lot and you'll hear and feel Blockorama.
