HALL, J. Edna (nee Mann)
HALL, J. Edna (nee Mann) In loving memory of J. Edna (nee Mann) Hall, 90 years of Sudbury, who passed away Thursday morning, August 14th, 2003 at the Extendicare-York, Sudbury. She was born in Toronto and married Everett Hall in North Bay in 1937. Edna grew up in Kearney & Pembroke. She lived several years in Sundridge then 14 years in Burwash moving to Sudbury in 1972. A dedicated educator she had been a teacher in the Nipissing area, Wanup, Sundridge and Burwash, retiring in 1970 with 20 years service. A woman of faith she was a member of St. Andrew's United Church and the Fidelis U.C.W. Unit. She was the past president of the Ontario Association Superannuated Woman's Teachers and a charter member of the Retired Women's Teacher's of Ontario being instrumental in bringing the first provincial conference to Sudbury. A gifted musician she played the piano and was a church organist. She generously shared her music with friends at Walford & Extendicare-York. She enjoyed playing bridge and she spent many happy times at the cottage on Elbow Lake. Edna will be remembered as a determined and independent person whose light inspired all who knew her. Beloved wife of Everett Hall predeceased 1995. Loving mother of Doreen (husband Al Balazs) of Edmonton, Barbara Anne Hall of Sudbury, Gordon Hall (wife Elizabeth) of Estaire and Peter Hall (wife Jenny) of Huntsville. Cherished grandmother of Jo-Anne, Elaine (husband Len), Sharon (husband James), Jamie (wife Aribo), Liisa (husband Sean), Eila, and Erik; great-grandchildren Kalandra, Robyn, Isobel, and Maija. He attended Glad Tiding Tabernacle. Bob was a faithful and keen Sudbury Wolves supporter. He was an avid golfer and an accomplished woodworker. He was knowledgeable regarding current affairs. He regularly watched CNN news programs. Bob will be remembered as an easy going person who always got along with others. Beloved husband of Lenna (Casey) Coulter predeceased 1999. Cherished son of Lloyd and Elsie Coulter predeceased. Loving brother of Ernest (wife Marilyn) Coulter of Parry Sound, Mary Fraser (husband Don predeceased) of Falconbridge. LACHANCE, Liliane "Babe" Lucille (nee Poirier) In loving memory of Liliane "Babe" Lucille (nee Poirier) Lachance, 85 years, who passed away Wednesday evening, October 29th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. She was born in Sturgeon Falls where she married Rene in 1946. Babe loved her parents, siblings and took great joy in her six children and their families. She enjoyed sharing time, jokes, food, conversation and the occasional glass of cold beer. Babe was an avid sports fans, especially of baseball which she was in her youth a wonderful player and derived her life long nickname. She was a home run queen and will be fondly remembered as being in a "League of her Own" for her entire life. She took great pride in her baking skills, particularly in her apple pie, which was world renowned and often given as a prize or happily received as a reward. Beloved wife of Rene Lachance of Sudbury. Loving mother of Denis (wife Sharlene), Colette (husband Randy Graham), Anne Louise (friend Monique Gravelle) and Andre all of Sudbury, Daniel (wife Suzanne) of Garson and Claude (wife Janice) of Hamilton. In loving memory of Margaret Cerutti, 85 years, who passed away Monday morning, January 19, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. She joined her husband Charles Cerutti in eternal rest. She was a wonderful and devoted mother of David (wife Gwen) and Roger (wife Catherine). Cherished grandmother of Christine (husband Greg Spangler) and Stephanie. Dear daughter of Anthony and Helen (Gvora) Kovac, both predeceased. Dear sister of Peter and Tony, both of Thunder Bay, predeceased by Mary, Anne Talabay, Helen Brtos and Raymond. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Thunder Bay and spent her summers at the family farm in Kakabeka Falls. During the war years, she worked as an aircraft welder. She married Charles and moved to Burwash, spending many wonderful years. The family enjoyed summers at the cottage on Rock Lake and in retirement, she enjoyed her winters in Florida with Charles. She was an avid tennis and badminton player, participated in her church choir, was enthusiastic about collecting antiques and shopping for the finer things in life. Margaret devoted her life to her family, especially her two granddaughters. Funeral prayers in the R.J. It is with great saddness that I report the passing of Margaret June Marchment at the age of 76. She passed peacefully in her own home in Monetville,Ont. she is survived by her son Larry, and her two daughters Joanne and Shirley.Her memories of Burwash were always full of joy and excitement as it simply offered us all so much. Although she had little contact with anyone after the closure I know that Burwash was what defined her life, and ours. God Bless

(Tom) Joseph Edward Yves Jarbeau passed away on March 18, 2004 at (0630) at his home in Gravenhurst with his loving family at his side.

Born on June 30, 1947 at Sturgeon Falls, Ontario he was the beloved son of the late Alphonse Jarbeau and is survived by his mother Florence Crossthwaite and stepfather John Crossthwaite.

Beloved brother to Therese, Sandra and Daniel. Predeceased by his sister Rita Smith.

Beloved husband to Ann Jarbeau, and loving father to Darren (Lilly) of Hamilton, Steven of Pembroke. Stepfather to Carrie McGinnis and Gregory Haverson, both of Barrie. Loving grandfather of Liam Jarbeau.

Tom spent 20 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He joined in Toronto on January 28, 1965. Tom served in Petawawa, Ontario and in Germany from 1972 to 1975 during which time he completed two tours in the Middle East (Cyprus) as a peacekeeper. Tom also served in Ottawa on Parliament Hill with the Change of Guard.

In 1978 Tom began training for his career as a firefighter in North Bay, Ontario. In 1980 Tom went to the Fire Fighting School of the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace and Ordnance Engineering at Borden, Ontario. There he worked as a supervisor and instructor until his retirement in April 1985.

In 1986 Tom again began working at what he loved to do. This time he joined the Office of the Fire Marshall at the Ontario Fire College where he worked as an instructor again. Tom and his wife Ann moved from Barrie to Gravenhurst in 1987 to make this town their new home.

Tom always did what he loved to do: teaching, firefighting, golfing with the guys that he worked with and boating on Lake Muskoka with family and friends.

Tom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 302 Gravenhurst.

During Tom’s last few days he was cared for at home by his wife Ann, his sons Darren, R.N., and Steven, and sisters Therese and Sandra.

The family will receive friends at the W.J. Cavill Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Friday, March 26, 2004 from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m., which will be officiated by Rev. Dr. James Sitler. Cremation has taken place.

In memory donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 302 Gravenhurst would be appreciated.

Dorothy was born in Havelock Ontario on November 12 1908, she resided there until her marriage to Angus in April 1939, when she moved to Burwash. When Angus passed away in February 1972, she moved back to her old home Havelock,where she was involved with her Chuch & Community & many friends from her childhood days. Funeral service was held in Havelock at the Brett Chapel on Saturday July 10, Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery.

(Retired) Frank Cummings announce his death at the Elizabeth Centre on Monday, June 9, 2003, at the age of 84. Born on January 14, 1919 in Calgary, Alberta, Frank was raised in various orphanages throughout the west. At the age of 20 he joined the Canadian Army, serving overseas with the Canadian Provost Corp, until July 1945. While in England, Frank met and married his beautiful war bride and devoted companion of 50 years, Betty Williams. Returning with Betty to Canada at war's end, Frank commenced employment as a Guard, first at the Burwash Industrial Farm and then at the Sudbury District Jail. In 1947 he joined the Sudbury Police Department and began a notable and accomplished policing career that lasted several decades. Frank was one of Sudbury's first motorcycle traffic officers, later working s a Detective in the Morality Squad and at the time of his retirement in 1979, he was employed as a Sargeant in Communications and Central Records. From 1979 until 1988 Frank continued his involvement with the police force working as the local Firearms Registry Officer. Frank is fondly remembered by his coworkers for his compassionate and understanding nature, and for having had a bark worse than his bite. A Past President of the Police Association, Frank was also the proud Manager for many years of the competitive and successful Police Association Midget Hockey Team. A sociable and entertaining gentleman, Frank took tremendous pride and delight in the company of his beloved niece, Sarah and his feline companion, Melba. Predeceased by his wife, Betty in 1996 and by his sister-in-law, Jean Jeffrey in 2002. Frank is survived by his niece, Sarah Jeffrey-Hampton (husband Rich) of Tacoma, Washington. Sadly missed by his friends and caregivers, Linda Osachuk, Monique Proulx and Marissa Rovinelli. The funeral was in Sturgeon Falls on Oct.8.
Robert was instrumental in the 2003 reunion for suppling  buses for the memory lanes trip to Burwash.

Dearly beloved husband of Anna (née Renaud) of Sturgeon Falls. Cherished father of Roch (Ginette), Daniel, and Robert Jr. (Sandra). He leaves a rich legacy of love to his grandchildren, Adam, Jean-Raymond, André, Alexandre, Beno”t, and Rémy. Robert will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and all his friends. Predeceased by his parents, Georges and Alma Arcand. Mr. Arcand was a well- known and respected lawyer in the city of Toronto. Locally he was the owner and operator of Alouette Bus Lines Ltd., in Sturgeon Falls. A private family inurnment of cremated remains will take place in Dome A at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph. The family would like thank Dr. C. At the funeral service there was a tribute from his oldest daughter and his 3 youngest grandchildren. One of his grandchildren composed a guitar instrumental and played it at the service.  Dan Stephens whom dad worked with at the East Detention Centre spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Corrections.  It was a lovely tribute to a husband, father and grandfather.
