A great page where everybody can make his own compilation of classical music (over 11.000 mp3s). I just visited the page, and they wrote, that they have some problems to handle the many people interested in this page. So stay patient. It's worth it!!

Fascinating site devoted to Gerard Grisey's Partiels. Grisey was a French composer who died a few years ago, and is one of the founders of the "spectral music" movement. Other members of this movement include Tristian Murail, Michael Jarrell, and Horatio Radulescu.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/classical/discover.shtml - "Discovering Music on BBC Radio 3 - Discovering Music finds out what makes great music great. Each week, our presenters explore the depths of a major classical work, to explain what makes it a masterpiece. The series is unique because of the way it uses specially-recorded examples to take the music apart. Longer examples put brief analyses into context, so that each programme bridges the gap between an analysis and a concert performance of a piece of music."

Russian site (with some Russian script!) for bassoonists, with a lot of orchestral excerpts and stuff. For non bassoonists also, there are 3 pages of mp3 downloads featuring the bassoon, including a whole album of 20th century bassoon-piano music (by Rota, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Bozza etc.)

Unknown Composers: Intersting collection of info from a range of contributors. Not always 'unknown' composers. The excellent Steven Schwartz article covers lesser known works by well known composers...

http://www.musicabona.com/ -
Cd's, sheetmusic, books and lot of information about Czech composers and other composers as well.
http://www.recordsinternational.com -
This is a mail-order place which specializes in little-known composers and hard-to-find CDs. Their monthly catalog is great to read, and provides descriptions about a lot of composers which you probably never heard of. I have never ordered from this place, but they seem to have a very good reputation.

The wikipedia entry on classical music.
Contributions by experts such as these gathered here would surely be appreciated.
