Welcome to our family. We have fourteen Catahoulas, "Our kids". The Catahoula (Louisiana Leopard Dog) is the state dog of Louisiana. The National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas, Inc. (NALC) is based in Denham Springs, Louisiana and is the official registry. We are also members of the American Catahoula Association. Catahoulas are working dogs used to herd cattle, bay wild boars, tree coons and are excellent watch and guard dogs. Catahoulas are energetic and need room to run. Catahoulas are protective of their home and owners, but they are not known to be openly aggressive. They are very intelligent and each has their own personality. Breeding and time determines each dogs interest. Catahoulas are gaining in popularity because of their intelligence, agility and their unusual coat coloration and eye color. As you will see from our family photos, there is a wide variation in coat coloration and eye color. These are just a couple of things that make them so very interesting. Our kennel name is Crawdad Catahoulas. Our kennel is located in Lafayette, Louisiana. We are NALC Certified Breeders. We have developed a breeding program of which we are extremely proud. A very well established and well respected breeder made the following comment which also brings us great pride: "The Dugas are wonderful breeders of some of the biggest and more beautiful Catahoulas you have ever laid your eyes on." A good example of a large beautiful Catahoula that bears our kennel name is Quad Grand Champion of Champions Crawdad's Bayou Nine. Nine has really make us proud at the dog shows. Please check out his accomplishments posted within "Pictures"- "Our Family." Tri Grand Champion of Working Dog Champions, Crawdad's Bayou Nine, is a good example of our motto "Our Dogs Won't Crawfish Out On You". Thank you for visiting our site. Please browse a while.
