2004 Tucson Tournament

During the weekend of March 13th and 14th, six players represented Dallas at the Southern Arizona Field Hockey Tournament in Tucson.  They played five games against three teams from Arizona and Colorado and did exceptionally well under the circumstances.  Playing on a full-size grass field, with a goalie and four other players borrowed from the other teams, the Dallas team was 1-1-1 after the round-robin section of the tournament and recorded a 2-1 victory over the strong Tucson team (the tournament runner-up).  They drew 3-3 with Colorado and lost 1-0 (penalty stroke) in a closely contested match against the champion Phoenix team.  Unfortunately, the team could not keep up their good form and lost to Phoenix and Colorado (3-1 in both games) in the double-elimination playoff round.

Atul, Iris, Johan, Maria, Suren and Walter all had a great time and made many new friends at the tournament.  I would encourage you to keep the second weekend in March 2005 open so that we can field a full team (11 players plus substitutes) at next year's tournament.
