| Managers and Assistant Managers A number of folk who have been members of DCS for a while and have been designated "Managers or Assistant Managers" stay involved long after recovery for a number of reasons: -
They have the experience of being separated/divorced and so can relate to your feelings -
They have the experience of using this site, Message Boards, Chat Room and Resources and so are in a good position to resolve problems that do arise as a result of communicationg through these media. -
The have a sense of gratitude for what they have been given through their membership and wish to give something back. -
They have a strong desire to keep DCS safe and functional for current AND future members. They can only be described on screen as Managers/Assistant Managers because that is the only term available under MSN constraints. It would be more realistic though to see them as helpers in a number of roles: -
As facilitators in Chat. -
As both contributors and moderators to posts on the Message Board or Chat room conversations. -
As janitors keeping DCS safe for members and tidying out of date Resource information, broken links or adding new Resources. -
As policy makers and guides when an issue arises that requires existing policies to be changed or new ones added.( http://groups.msn.com/DivorceCareSupport/divorcecaresupportpolicies.msnw). However, what makes DCS work is not the managers whatever role they take on, it is you the members ministering to each other through identifying the pain of divorce with your own experience. Like anything in life you get back what you put in and this is very true of DCS. I joined DCS for the first time back in 2003 after I decided to split from my husband who cheated on me numerous times during our 9 year relationship. I found so much support and kindness here that I now stick around to try and help others. I have four children: M 17, F 15, M 14, and M 12. I'm currently a stay at home mom working on earning my Associate's degree (which I will have after I complete four more credits). | |
