Since this test is designed to assess mastery of material learned during the student’s first year-and-a-day of study, no books, study sheets, or other materials are to be used during completion of the test.

  Section 1: Definitions   |


Define the following terms.
1. Wicca.
2. Witchcraft.
3. Paganism.
4. Magick.
5. Esbat.
6. Sabbat.
7. Ritual.
8. Circle (in a ritual sense).


|   Section 2: History and Trads.  


1. Briefly describe the history of Wicca.
2. Briefly describe the history of your Trad or of this particular coven.
3. Compare and contrast three different types of Trads.
4. How does Wicca differ from Christianity? How is it the same?
5. Name three people important to the history Craft and discuss the importance of each.
6. Describe in detail the difference between a solitary and coven practitioner. (Note: It isn’t enough just to say that one practices solitary and one practices in a coven.)
7. Discuss the difference between an eclectic and a Trad-based Wiccan.
8. What is a FamTrad?



  Section 3: True or False. If false, explain why in detail.   |


1. Tuathail is another word for deosil.
2. Widdershins means counterclockwise movement.
3. If you do not have a burin, you can substitute a besom for the same act.
4. Dedication and initiation are two words for the same event.
5. A grimoire is synonymous with a book of shadows.
6. Karma is another word for three-fold retribution.
7. All Wiccans work skyclad.
8. Invoking is another word for evoking.



  Section 4: Short Answer.   |


1. List all the sabbats, their approximate dates, and a brief description of each.
2. Name the five elements. Under each, list the following information: elemental guardian, direction, magickal tool (both individual and coven), and one additional correspondence.
3. List the twelve signs of the zodiac and the dates for each.
4. List the cards of the major arcana.
5. List the major chakras, including their position and associated color.
6. Draw invoking pentagrams for each of the elements.
7. List the airts/aspects of the Witches’ Pyramid. (Latin or English accepted)
8. List four phases of the moon, and explain the significance of each.



|   Section 5: Essay   |


1. Write a simple esbat ritual, including a circle casting.
2. Describe in detail the attributes and mythology of a deity of your choice.
3. Describe in detail the characteristics of one sabbat of your choice.
4. List 10 items that can be found on an altar, and explain the significance of each.
5. Give the magickal properties or uses of 10 stones, 10 plants, and 10 animals.
6. Describe in detail one form of divination, and demonstrate how to do a reading with that method.
7. Compare and contrast grounding and centering.
8. Name and describe different roles that are held within a coven.

  Section 6: Critical Thinking.  


1. Does the Rede permit acts of self-defense? Why or why not?
2. What is the most important information that you learned during your studies to date?
3. Where do you see yourself in your studies ten years from now?
4. If you had to describe your faith to someone who had no knowledge of Wicca, Witchcraft, or Paganism, what would you say?
5. Is it important for a Wiccan/witch/Pagan to be openly out of the broom closet? Why or why not?
