Other Information:

Weapons System Officer: The Weapons System Officer (WSO) occupies the rear cockpit seat and it is their job to monitor the radar for possible threats and select targets. This is done using four TV like multi-functional displays, or MFD's, which display such information as targets, weapons status, aircraft positioning and an electronic 'moving' map for navigation purposes.

LANTIRN Pod: The LANTIRN pod (Low Altitude Navigation and Infa-Red targeting for Night system) allows the F-15E to fly at low altitudes, day or night and in bad weather. The LANTIRN system consists of two pods, the navigation pod contains terrain following radar and the targeting pod contains a laser designator and tracking system, that can mark an enemy for destruction from upto 10 miles away. The LANTIRN gives the F-15E unparralled weapons delivery accuracy.
