HISTORY & INFO
The Lagoon Campground was added on the south end of Lagoon in 1971 to give guests a nice place to stay near the park and still be able to enjoy the beautiful natural atmosphere of Farmington. But it's not the first time guests have had a place to stay at Lagoon. In the early history of the park, guest cottages were rented out to visitors by the week or month. It originally had more than 250 camp sites, but has been reduced to 216. This might be caused by making some sites bigger to accommodate more RV's.
In 1976 or after it was renamed the Pioneer Village Campground. Later, in the 1990s, as RV's and campers became more common it was renamed Lagoon RV Park & Campground. The Campground is open from about the end of May to mid-September. However, in one rare instance it opened in February as a last resort for visitors to stay during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The Lagoon Trail is easily accessed on the south side of the Campground. It leads you around the back of Pioneer Village, behind Rattlesnake Rapids and eventually ends up near the Wasatch and Clearwater Terraces at the north end of the park. At Camp Headquarters there is a Store, Ice Cream Shop, Subway Restaurant and even a hair stylist. There is a Dog Walking Area and multiple restrooms & showers are provided. The Campground is a good choice mainly because you don't have to pay for parking or waste any time driving from your hotel to Lagoon. Plus you get $5 discount tickets for the park.
