KINTYRE'S 'WEST ROAD' WEBSITE
Find Out Who Was Who and Where in 1911

Though Kintyre is already well served by local websites,  there are subjects and areas of interest which these otherwise well-founded websites do not generally approach.

Bridging the gap,  like the old bridge at Muasdale,  Kintyre's 'West Road' website has been created to inform and educate Kintyreans old and new about some of Kintyre's history and to put in place some present-day links which may make it a little easier for people to access some of the services which control and contribute to the general well-being of those who live on 'The West Road' and elsewhere.

From here,  with just a few clicks of 'the mouse',  you can read most of The World's newspapers and get repeats of the BBC's 'Reporting Scotland' and STV's 'Scotland Today' and 'North Tonight' tele-news casts and,  just a few more mouse-clicks away,  find out about Kintyre's Weather and Watch The Animated Radar Screens for signs of approaching rain and check the various webcam views to make sure what's happening.

Really fed up ?  Then,  take yourself back in time and watch some cartoons from the 1950's and 1960's .

And Other 'Sister Websites'

CLYDE STEAMER HISTORY WEBSITE
includes old steamer timetables

Next,  though perhaps few are aware of it,  there have long been historical connections between Kintyre and the villages of Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay and the Skelmorlie Website,  founded in 2001,  has some 1,000-plus photographs and numerous articles on it,  including the Scot's and Norwegian accounts of The Viking's final and famous voyage to Gigha and around The Mull of Kintyre only to be repelled at The Battle of Largs in 1263.

Also and importantly for all those people who remember 'the good old days' when everyone was expected to be able to read,  write and count before they were even half way through primary school,  there is the Greenock Academy website,  a few of its former pupils now resident in and around Kintyre.
