His case is filled withirregularities which have gone unanswered for years.I was a teacher on the Pine Ridge Reservation from 1971 to 1976. Afterthe siege of Wounded Knee, from 1973 to 1976 the FBI used the Pine RidgeReservation as a training ground for SWAT team tactics.Hundreds of FBI agents were brought to the reservation for realistictraining in operations directed against the American Indian Movement. Avigilante GOON squadwas allowed to operate with impunity. A wave of violence and terrorengulfed the reservation. Traditional people on the reservation felt that they had been abandonedby the United States Government.Beatings and killings conducted by police and vigilantes were frequentlytreated lightly or went unpunished. Sandra Woundefoot, my fifteen yearold student, was tortured, raped and murdered by a Federal Officer(Documentation available on request) He was allowed to plead guilty to a charge of manslaughter! As a non-Native American teacher and Vietnam Veteran who witnessed theseevents years ago, I am angered and ashamed at the disparity of justice. The Federal Bureau of Investigation bears major responsibility for the tragedy that took place on the Pine Ridge Reservation on that sad dayyears ago.I ask that justice be given to this man, that healing and closure may begiven to those who lived through these events. I ask that Mr. Peltier begiven parole. Sincerely,Paul K.
