Smudge all  articles you will be using.A prayer mesa stick is made of two sticks male and female tied together. You will need to find a stick that represents the female (moon stick) and another stick that represents the male (sun stick). The moon stick should be lighter than the sun stick.

1.The sun stick wrap cedar and moss to represent the males private parts.Around top of stick wrap red, yellow, orange color threads.

2.The moon stick wrap a blue cloth to represent the female private parts.Paint a face with two circles for eyes and one for mouth with the color blue.

3.Wrap moon stick with clor threads green, purple, blue, and burgundy.Dress stick adding      bells, stars, moons, beads or paint the symbols.

4.Bind or connect the sticks with the seven color thread. To represent wholeness on each stick paint purple dots on the bottom.

The mesa stick can take place of an entire altar when in place in ground. This allows you to be able to set an altar when you travel wherever you wish.It is a interchangeable point of focus with the center of the medicine wheel(Great Spirit),so you can carry the complete medicine wheel with you.

Over the area where you have been working, keeping the space sacred the mesa stick may be left to guard.Leave the stick and disconnect physically from it totally, letting the wind and elements remove its presence over time, when you are finished with the ceremony.Your spirit can travel back to it in your mind and continue to work whenever you want all you have to do is think of the space where the stick is pkysically. If a loved one was sick and you could not be with them ,for example, you could leave the mesa stick in their presence, and explain that you are with them in prayer. This allows your spirit to connect, and they are never alone.

Tools:  Two sticks 10 to 18 inches longglue, sage, sweetgrass, moss, cedar, bells,,strips of blue cloth 1/4 inch, threads in seven colors, seven colors of paint.
