 FWO's YAHOO "Chats": How/When?

NOTICE: Because MSN has quit furnishing a chat room,  we have elected to try using Yahoo Messenger. Following is a post from "His Polar Bear," which first appeared on FWO Support site, with instructions on establishing your account there and using it. One major advantage is that that there could be several different chats, with different sets of friends, going on at the same time.

From His Polar Bear:
goodmorning ladies,  I would like to explain how this could work. those who would want to participate would first have to have yahoo messenger downloaded on their computer.

1. You then make yourself a yahoo id, you can use the same name you identify yourself with here.  When you are signing up it will ask for your email, as it did here in the profiles, but you have the choice to make it public or private.

2. Then you have to put other members on your friends/buddy list (for example kitkat1167 is on mine and I am on her's as hispolarbear13)

3.  When someone on your list is online it will show on your friends list and you can highlight their name and click on it to send them an instant message

4. in the instant message window there is a 'button' to click to invite that person to a 'conference'

5. then another window will open up to send and invite to the conference.  the first person you clicked on will be in the add window for your conference and if other ladies are online (your whole list will show up on the left side of the window) and you can also add them to the conference.

6.you then click the button to send them an invite and a new window pops up for the conference.  actually it will look very similar to our chat window and it just like a big instant message window just between those you invite.

it is not a public chat room and will not be listed in the general chat forum for anyone to join.  it will be a private 'room' for FWO members online at the time

so if we use this method for 'chat' each member who wants to chat on a particular nite can do what we do now and post on the FWO site that they want to chat.  they would then make sure they are signed on with yahoo messenger and when at least one other member signs on you can make a conference window.  when we see that others have signed on when we have a window going already there is a button in the conference window to ask other to join.

so in this format we would still be private.  I hope that helps explain how it will work.  I wanted to get detailed so this could be used for future reference.

just write to me or to lynette if you have other questions.

If these times are still good, let me know and we will keep them posted here.
