Character Rules

1. All force sensitive characters MUST begin at adept or apprentice level. To progress in the force you are required to join the Force Praxeum community. Basically.. find a master. If you join a non-force user group and the group leader asks you to find a trainer, then you must comply with the group leader.  Don’t like that one?… Well hell, you joined the group so don’t complain to us.

1a. New  Yuuzhan Vong characters, unless you have have been accepted via an MSN chat, please post your request to join in the Vong Forum

2. NO clones, (or Robots: IE 5 millions Terminators in the Galaxy) . A dead Jedi's spirit can show up from time to time. A dead Sith is DEAD unless they possess or inhabit a host, otherwise their spirit dies rather quickly.   Exception.  Your Dead character is cloned and you grant permission for his DNA to be used . Or the mods feel cheritable forthe sake of a story line.

3. Unless already established, all characters should be original characters, remember we are playing in an altered universe of STAR WARS. Plus, it isn't fair to the people who actually spent time making something up, it looks silly, and it bogs down RP.  Similar names are discouraged highly and as far as character pics go…  hey it’s a huge galaxy and if you happen to look like Obi-Wan Kenobi then so be it…  (No Han Solo-like name or picture)

4. For female and asexual characters--if your character becomes pregnant, then it is mandatory that the gestation period is 2 weeks IRL. Also..no triplets etc...And don't have kids unless your going to play them. Having kids who disappear is pointless.  No turning around and getting pregnant again the next day! Don’t laugh it’s happened more than once

5. All characters must RP according to their RP age. Children must ACT like children (this includes their abilities to carry out gymnastic maneuvers, dodge bullets, absorb injuries, etc.)

6. An unestablised.. or new character cannot can not show up and automatically rule an organization, they must be voted in or given control by those established.  Why?  Would you vote some guy for president that just showed up the day before and introduced himself then said “I’m gonna be your leader now where’s that shiny red button?”

7. If you wish to create a new species, or bio-engineer an already existing species, then it must be approved by the  Mods.

8. If you must use "exotic" weapons, then keep them somewhat realistic.  No using Vong Amphistaffs unless you are Vong (there are exceptions and if you follow the NJO then you know what they are.  If you don't follow the NJO then you have ZERO Business attempting to pick up an Amphistaff and I hope the damn thing bites you)

Dueling

First of all, you can't power play somebody. This goes for any action that is considered completed by a character's turn. You can't say "Luke wrests the gun from the Stormtrooper's hand." The Stormtrooper needs his chance to defend this action. Proper use would be "Luke tries to take the Stormtrooper's gun away." The Stormtrooper now has one move to defend this. This is the tricky part. The Stormtrooper has several options of getting out of this. For instance, he could say: "Stormtrooper pulls the gun away." This is the simplest defense, but it doesn't do much by way of attacking on the Stormtroopers's part. If only a defense is made in a typed line, then the defender still has to wait their turn to attack again. Unless he tries something like this: "Stormtrooper pulls gun away, kicking at Luke's stomach as he does." This is a counterattack, and it is perfectly legal. What can't be done is: "Stormtrooper hangs on to gun, pulling the trigger and sending a shot into Luke's gut," which is a powerplay, as he tried to force the outcome without Luke getting a chance to defend,  Of course, he can say, "Stormtrooper holds on to gun and pulls trigger." Again perfectly legal, and it requires a defense by Luke.
Once a defense is deemed "broken" (aka someone messes up), the severity of the attack depends on where the attack is directed, and with what kind of weapon. If the attack is: "Stormtrooper fires at Luke's head," and Luke doesn't dodge, he's all over but the shouting. If the attack is "Stormtrooper fires at Luke's stomach," and there is no defense, it's essentially up to the victorious attacker if the target lives or dies. In this most dishonorable room, usually the next line is "you're dead." So don't expect mercy if you mess up. If the line is "Stormtrooper fires at Luke's hand," although I couldn't tell you why he would do that, no defense equals no hand for Luke. Which I'm sure he's getting sick of.
If this is a fistfight, it becomes harder to judge impact, but most weapons battles, from knives to guns to lightsabers, to even the extremely rare ship to ship combat, follow this guideline. For hand to hand combat, the fighters pretty much have to work something out on their own.
Side Note1:  Detailed dueling posts are truly things of beauty.  Detail=GOOD
Side Note2: Ask around.  The experienced Rpers aren’t hard to find and are usually pretty good about giving tips and advice.  If you can’t find one turn to a Mod… and we Mods are kickass fighters.  <---this guide was taken from another board.  Thanks to whoever wrote that up.

The  Jedi

Jedi must  adhere to the code.  The Dark Side, as depicted in STAR WARS, is supposed to be seductive and overwhelming.  If you perform deeds that are considered excessive or "evil," then maybe you are on the wrong side. If necessary, you will be "outed" and you may become an enemy without realizing. . You cannot use blatant deception for personal gain. You cannot attack without purpose. This goes for both Force AND Non-Force attacks. You're a good guyAct like one.  If you don’t know how to play a Jedi then don’t waste everyone’s time by trying.

The Bad Guys

Some groups on this board are considered "bad guys". If you are a member of these groups (aka Sith, Dark Jedi, or Vong) you are suppose to ACT like a bad guy. A normal Sith, upon seeing a Jedi would either A) Try to turn him or her to their side B) Act calm and watchful or C) Try to kill them. For the Vong, NO Rper is allowed to be nice to any non-vong allie unles you are defecting. Defection of this kind is to be conculted with the Vong group leader or a mod(Due to the fact that it happened only once in the 5000+ pages of books on the NJO so far and that wasn't even a real defection.)
