Force powers The Force CAN NOT be used to redirect missiles, gunshots, or any projectile weapon fired within close range. The projectile must either be dodged physically or it can be slightly pushed aside. It CAN NOT be "turned around and sent back" at the person who fired it. Ever. You can use it to block small blaster bolts with your hand in emergencies if you are a Master or a full Sith Lord, or you can use your lightsaber like everyone else (although if you use a lightsaber on a missile, it can still blow up in your face.) ((Suggestion: Try looking at Jedi Outcast for a good example. Greater Reborn warriors and Jedi Knights like Kyle Katarn, and Desann, as well as Desann’s apprentice Tavion and Jedi Academy adult students, could push back projectiles; not in the opposite direction, but merely away from them – so a Jedi could push a missile coming towards him forward and high into the air, using the Force like a sponge to ricochet the projectile (there are Force – Reflect techniques). However the range could be quite close depending on their telekinetic skill. Also, it was made clear to me by another roleplayer, one whom the mods should know, is that absorption is a rare Force ability…though there are exceptions.)) <-- thank you Sevlar. Side Note on Selvar’s suggestion. TK Absorbtion is rare and if you wish to use it for your Character talk to a Storm character to learn more about advantages and disadvantages(Yes there are disadvantages… like you can explode from the inside) The Force can be used to cloud a weaker mind, either by altering memory or perception. It can also be used to influence someone else's will. Jedi have to use this sparingly, as using it in a damaging way IS of the Dark Side. In times of need, this rule may not apply. It goes without saying that these things also require some concentration. The Force can be used, to some extent, to heal. Small cuts do not require much thought, but in the middle of a fight, you must do this as a single action, you can't simply put: "Cale heals the cut on his leg and deflects Quaven's slash." That's two actions, and it doesn't work that way. If you have a spare moment, you can heal the injury...MILD INJURIES ONLY, no healing broken bones or lightsaber impalements instantly. Major injuries, unless treated immediately by a Jedi who specializes in healing (they generally aren't the best fighters, though) have to be treated with a self-healing trance or medical treatment, but not until a fight is over (the patient does have to avoid exertion too.) The Dark Side is no good for healing Force-Drain, works well to get some energy back. Cuts can be closed, or blood flow lessened, but the Dark Side cannot speed healing unless meditated upon intensely outside of a fight. Mind reading is possible using the Force, but it's a tricky business. Even a powerful Force-User needs to concentrate to read exact thoughts in a person's mind, and they have to be close. Emotions or intent, such as: "Vacardo senses that Forsaken wants to kill him," are much easier to read, but it can't be like: "Vacardo hears Forsaken's thoughts...the Sith Lord wishes to drop a piano on his head." Generally Force-users have trouble reading other's thoughts, however, "disturbances," such as the death of a Force-user, or direct concentrated messages can occasionally be interpreted as clearly as spoken words, or at least detected. Most of the time it does require reasonably close proximity, although there are rare exceptions for close bonds, such as a father and son, or if, say, an entire planet of 500 million people is destroyed by a Death Star The Force can increase a person's ability to attack or defend. This is most evident in the use of lightsabers to deflect weapons fire, and also in the pinpoint accuracy of Force-wielding gunners. It can be utilized without a lightsaber or weapon, but you had better make it creative. The Force can enhance ability, but it is subject to fatigue and concentration level. You can run a lot faster if you have time to think about it, but if you are winded, or hurt, you may be stuck with pure physical ability. Same with jumping, although it is a lot easier to boost a jump by pushing your body with the Force than it is to accelerate body movements to run at triple speed. Force users are capable of incredible feats of gymnastic skill, but it is limited by concentration level. Keep it reasonable (( Yes, as far as I am aware, there are “mana” for even users of the Light. The light side, as used by the Jedi as I understand, limited itself only to knowledge and defense; but did not hamper one’s body like the Dark Side. However, no sentient has enough willpower endurance or mental stability for insane amounts of Force current energy or lengthy usage of constant Force powers without a chance to breathe in and rest spiritually. This is evident in Dorsk 81, whose body obviously could not handle that much Force power for the duration he used it (he died). )) <---Note from Sevlar. The Light Side of the Force can be given to others to speed healing or for other purposes. However, it can't be used to accelerate growth, such as plant or animal growth, or be bestowed upon others for their own use. The Dark Side can be used to twist genetic structures, but remember it is unnatural and therefore definitely of the Dark Side, especially if used for attack. Dark Side powers can be bestowed in part upon others, but only someone as powerful as the Emporer in Return of the Jedi may be powerful enough to do this. Some previous Force skill IS required as well A Light Side user joins the greater company of the Force when they die. However, they don't just "disappear" and become Force ghosts like Ben Kenobi. (The Jedi, even Yoda, were mislead to think that all Jedi become one with the Force…if their bodies have not disappeared and/or their spirits aren’t Force Ghosts . . they are not one with the Force and those souls are outside that Force community and retaining their identity for a limited time like a Dark Sider. Jedi who become one with the Force do not retain their own identity, yet they are in the “afterlife” can are part of the Force itself; and their own identity has not really died. Light Side users who have not become one with the Force die off peacefully and retain a bit of their identity as spirits for a while. They can be felt as the real “dead.” Dark siders’ souls are banished from the Force and their power – the explosion like Palpatine’s – returns to the Force itself. Dark Siders’ spirits must expend amounts of their powers to retain identity as ghosts, can they can do it forever if they anchor themselves to something – though Dark Lords were considered capable of such a feat. Great amounts of dark energy is wasted even when dark spirits travel, which is why you find most dark ghosts lingering around the spots they died at. When probing the Dark Side, you are in fact feeling their essences, their residual personalities and effect on the Force, echoing. This is also construed as the “dead.”) To “Disappear” requires heavy concentration, and in fact may require months or even years of willful meditation. So most of the time, a body is left behind. A powerful enough Darksider may explode upon death, but it is very rare. The spirit of a Force user can remain in contact with the physical world for a short while after its body dies, although Dark Siders generally fade away much faster than Light Siders do. A strong enough Dark Sider CAN possess a body for a short time, but must displace the living spirit within, otherwise they will still fade away, just a bit more slowly (they must be in a Force user's body, or they cannot sustain themselves.) A Jedi of the Light would never do such a corrupt thing, usually preferring the peace of the beyond anyway. A Jedi who is dying can sometimes "link" consciousness to another Jedi if their bond is strong enough, but this bond cannot last forever, and the dead Jedi must eventually fade away A Light Sider must never use the Force to kill, except in the defense of life. All other options are to be explored first. If necessary, a Jedi is compelled to sacrifice their own life rather than use the Force in a wrongful manner. A Light Sider must not attack, PERIOD, unless in defense. Attacking without reason is of the Dark Side, and it adds up quickly. War is a reason to attack. Someone spilling a Coke on your Nike’s is not.
Dark Siders can use the Force to kill pretty much without fear. They can do several things, although elegant pinpoint things like stopping a single vein, or rupturing brain tissue generally take more concentration than, say, crushing someone's skull. A Light Sider can usually ward off direct Force attacks, such as the patented Dark Side throat squeeze, but they do have to watch out if something is thrown at them. Dark Siders seem to have more freedom than Light Siders, who do have to watch out for the consequences of their actions more often, but the Light Side can usually cancel out any Dark Side action if properly utilized. This, of course, varies from case to case All in all, you can do a lot with the Force. But remember, although it seems like magic, it's at once both more complicated and less complicated. There are rules and limitations.. If you do not use the Force, an attack by someone using the Force (choke, flying object, being thrown against a wall) cannot be deflected, AT ALL. It can be interrupted, but not dodged. Use your imagination<--- Non Force users pay close attention to that one.
