Using the Message Board: Replying To A Thread--click on the Reply button of a message you are reading to open a pop-up dialog box--you will see a menu bar with lots of options-you can change your font color, background, use an emoticon, bold, italicize, underline words and much more. When you have finished your message, hit the send button.
Starting A New Thread--there are several different message board topics. When you have chosen a topic you'd like to use, click on New Discussion to open the pop-up box and type in your message. Edit as you feel necessary and then hit the send button. Posting Graphics On The Message Board--we enjoy seeing members pictures on the message board. There are two basic ways to post a picture/graphic on the message board: Photo Upload--to upload a picture/graphic from your computer look for the yellow square box that has the mountain and sun in it. Hover your cursor over it, it will say Insert Picture and click on it. A pop-up dialog box will show. Next, click on the My Computer tab and open it. Click on Browse, find the file that is located on your computer, click on it and it will appear in the browse box. It is not necessary to fill in the Title or Description that you will see. Click on the Add Photos and the picture/graphic will be inserted into your message.
Using The Photo Albums Uploading a Photo--choose a photo album that you would like to add your own personal photo to and click to open it. At the top of the page look for Add Photos and click to open the photo upload center. On the left hand side you will see a list that has the files in your computer. Click on and open the file containing the photo you wish to upload to the album. On the right hand side of the screen you will see a thumbnail of the pictures you have in that file. Check the one(s) you wish to upload, rename if you wish, and then click on Upload Now. The photo will process and appear in the album. You can also use the Edit Photos feature to crop, change the contrast, and rotate and flip your photo before uploading. Copy and Paste--for more experienced users you can directly copy and paste a photo from the photo albums to place in a message (having two windows open does make this simpler, but not necessary). First choose the picture that you want to use from the photo album. Click on the thumbnail of the picture to open it to it's full size. Place your cursor over the image and right click and choose Copy. Next, go directly to the message board and open a pop-up message box, left click into the text area to get the blinking I-bar and then use the following two key combination to paste the picture/graphic into your message Ctrl + V;(control and v). Deleting A Message--if you feel it necessary to delete a message you have posted you may do so by clicking on Delete. You will get a prompt asking if this is what you really want to do--click yes or cancel. A deleted message will leave a box on the message thread stating that "This message was deleted by the author". Some Do's and Don'ts--the managers reserve the right to delete a message, link, or other content, that is considered inappropriate, off topic, or unsuitable. MSN has Codes of Conduct governing manager's responsibilities and these are strictly adhered to.
What is spam?--spam is unsolicited advertising, links, other promotional activities, or misrepesentational materials that are placed on message boards. This is not considered good netiquette" and can result in banning. Respecting Other's Work--many pictures and graphics you see on the internet are protected by copyrights. If the image you are using is NOT in the public domain, please do not post it as it belongs to someone else and you should ask their permission first to use it!
