k.d. and Tony Bennett to work together again? 8/05
"Not that Tony will be sitting around until the big celebration gets under way. He has a string of summer concert dates ahead including his Aug. 12 and 13 stint at the Hollywood Bowl. "I just love it there, all of Hollywood comes out, and the whole area is so beautiful," he says. He has another album project in the works with his frequent collaborator, k.d. lang. "I have a good idea, but I can't mention the concept yet. It's - that terrible word - commercial," he says with a laugh. And he has a showing of his paintings coming up in Carmel "in about a month and a half." The good life, indeed."

Several kd items were recently auctioned in aid of Arib Bhod, including the chance to sing with k.d. herself!
This was the blurb:
This auction defines "unique experience." k.d. lang, a generous supporter of Ari Bhod and our mission of Tibetan cultural preservation, has offered one of the most mind-boggling opportunities ever presented on eBay. This one is better than the jar of air breathed by Brad Pitt or the image of the Holy Virgin on a grilled cheese sandwich. k.d. has been hired by the producers of one the most popular television shows in the country to produce a song for their upcoming soundtrack album. She will be recording the song this month in Los Angeles. The winner of this auction gets to work with k.d. in the studio on the song. What does "works with" mean? Well, k.d. is most interested in another singer. She's going to be singing the song and she would like someone else to work with her either on a duet or as a background vocalist. eBay regulars know how auctioned walk-on roles for TV shows work-- generally you get a non-speaking role, walking by or sitting in the background and sometimes you actually make it onto the screen for a moment. If you win this and you have a great voice, you're going to be on a song that the whole world will be able to hear and your name will be on the credits of the CD and all. If you have a less-than-great voice, k.d. will work with you to get it to sound as good as it can and you'll probably wind up in the background-- and your name will still be in the credits even if no one but people you personally point it out to will be able to hear where you're doing the singing. We're not at liberty to mention the show but unless you've been living under a rock for the last couple of years, you're very much aware of it. The song k.d. will be recording-- with you-- is a cover of the Glen Campbell classic "Dreams of the Everyday Housewife." So take that for what it's worth. If you'd like to learn more about Ari Bhod, please click on our ME Page above. And remember, don't bid on this item if you can't be in Los Angeles this month for the session.
The song will be included on the Desperate Housewives Soundtrack.
