Western Heights, Dover
Team – Nicki, Deb, Dave, Mick, Jo, Chris, Les, Ben, Alan, Mikey, Gaz, Tony and Tracy
Team assembled at St Martins Car Park approx 10.15pm. Equipment checked.
Equipment used : EMF Meter, Thermometer, Infra Red Laser Thermometer, Digital Stills Cameras, Mini DV Cam (with night vision), 2 x Digital 8 Cam (with night vision).
10.45pm Team made their way to ruins of a circular naved church at Citadel Rd protection led by Debs. Various photo's and footage taken but no presences or energy were felt by the group at this location.
11.30pm Team make their way to St. Martins Battery. The WWII gun emplacements are investigated first. These are built onto the front of the Victorian gun emplacements and magazines. The site is investigated from No1 to No3 and then the Victorian buildings in the reverse order.
In the first emplacement Mick and Dave pick up on a presence there and Debs also does on her arrival. Headaches are felt by all three. The name of Jones is given and “1st Battalion”. The name of Franklin is given to Mick and a Canadian connection (this is later supported by military records). Mick and Dave sense a head injury which was fatal. Various photo’s taken which reveal orbs and mist.

It is sensed that the presences in No1 emplacement follow the group to No2 and spirit is sensed in one of the upper – caged off rooms here.
In No2 emplacement Dave gets the names Adrian and Thomson. It is not clear if they are connected but felt that they are first name and surname. Alan gets the name Corporal Alexander. Mick gets initials A and J. Gunpowder/explosive smelt by some. Whilst in the area under this emplacement Alan feels four spirits, three of which he describes as of Scottish origin and malicious. The other one appears to be there against his will and is weaker than the others. Alan feels a sharp pain to his back described as a stab wound. Dave gets a pain to his left stomach like it had been cut away or suffered in conflict. Dave has to leave the room and receives healing from Mick and Debs. Mick feels a pain to throat and sees that this person died by having their throat cut. Cigar smoke smelt by various members at this point. Mick gets the name P Marshall.
Team then moves to the rear of the emplacements into the Victorian magazine rooms.
Dave, Mick, Nicki, Gaz and Les conduct a vigil in a magazine room. Dave and Mick pick up a small boy about 5 yrs old in spirit is running around the group. Cold energy is felt. Mick gets the name Jay and Dave gets Jason. He is of Victorian era and his death was by fever – temperature felt by Mick. He enjoys this area. EMF fluctuations are recorded by Les and footage taken. The boy is forthcoming and a date of 1834 and name of Smythe is given to Dave. Dave sees an image of the boys father in a red and white uniform, a tall peaked hat and carrying a musket type firearm. The boy tells Mick his mother doesn’t like him playing around people up at the battery and Dave senses the mother approach. The boy runs to Nicki and pulls at her arm. The mother is heard by Mick to admonish the boys and a smell of cooking comes with her – she used to work in the Barrack kitchens near the Battery.
The rest of the team investigate outside the area outside the magazine rooms and Alan senses a male swinging keys and shaking doors to make sure they are locked. Jo picks up the name Harold Christian whilst feeling dizzy and nauseous.
At No3 gun room furthest from the car park Debs senses and Alan sees a presence. Debs walks towards the room and tentatively as she feels uneasy here. A disgruntled sigh is heard by Debs and Alan. Footsteps and movement are heard by Chris and Debs. Pictures taken by Chris.
00.45am Team leave St. Martins Battery and return to car park for refreshments.
01.00am Team make their way to the site of The Barracks and Grand Shaft via the North Entrance Guardroom which is too dangerous to do a vigil in due to the lack of floorboards but orbs are captured by Gaz.
There is a great feeling of being watched as the team walk around the site from spirit who are hiding and also following the group with great interest. Orbs captured by Gaz. In a guardroom near the bricked up entrance to Deep Shelter an oppressive feel is felt by Debs. Other members feel claustrophobic here. Again there is a feeling of being watched sensed by Alan.
Kitchen smells are noticed by some of the team around the Barracks.
The gates to the Grand Shaft are open and some of the team descend the steps and enter the shaft. Jo, Mikey, Les, Nicki and Dave stay at the top. There is still a sense of being watched and an unexplained large light anomaly is captured on photo by Dave.
Those entering the shaft sense an oppressive atmosphere. Debs returns quickly. Alan, Tony and Tracy feel a warm spot to the edge of the shaft near the top of one of the staircases. A feeling of being pushed past by spirit was also felt here.
02.30am The team return to the car park and the investigation ends
