Once you have the basics needs of life; food, shelter, good health; and once you have learned how to love and be loved, and  have discovered how to feed your spirit, then the important thing is --- to fine tune ---

"Your sense of the ridiculous"

For the "terminally serious", it can be your path to putting some fun into every day, and a wonderful survival technique. Not every thing in life is humorous, but we miss a lot that is. Don't take it all so seriously all of the time, try to find the humor in every situation. Grant yourself permission to be silly occasionally; it's therapeutic.

The event is not important,

but your reaction to the event is everything.

"…for humor involves a sense of proportion and a power of seeing yourself from the outside…We must picture Hell as a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment…"
